School Streets are appearing in cities across the UK and Europe, where communities take part in creating car-free zones in front of schools at peak drop-off and pick-up times.

Hackney Borough Council is a municipality that has pioneered the installation of School Street zones in the City of London, U.K. with 4 permanent zones established to date, and 3 more pilots underway in 2019. Building on the lessons learnt in Hackney, 8 80 Cities teamed up with Keele Street Public School, Toronto District School Board and EcoKids to host the first School Streets pilot project in Canada https://ontarioactiveschooltravel.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ed2453d5f9f59ee4dba4f9f0&id=0fd608dfdf&e=aa85860afc this October.
