SUSPENDED DRIVER

STRUCK CYCLIST: POLICE

WINNIPEG police say a pickup truck driver who struck a cyclist near Dugald and Murdock roads in Transcona on Wednesday had a suspended licence.

Winnipeg Police Service officers were called at about 5:30 a.m.; they found an injured 23-year-old man in the ditch off Dugald Road, just east of Murdock Road, and gave him first aid until paramedics arrived.

The man was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical, but stable, condition, police said on Thursday.

The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup, a 27-year-old woman, remained at the scene and co-operated with officers, police said.

Traffic investigators have confirmed she was driving with a suspended licence.
