From February 12 to February 13, you’re invited to take part in a pivotal decision that will impact the future of students in the Department of Occupational Therapy. The 2026 Council Referendum is your opportunity to vote on the future of the Student Initiative Fund (SIF)—funds that help enrich the academic experiences of Occupational Therapy students. ________________________________ What is the Student Initiative Fund? The Student Initiative Fund is designed to empower students through initiatives that support academic excellence and student-driven projects. These funds are supported by student contributions on a per-credit-hour or per-term basis, and your vote will determine how they are allocated. Winter 2026 Registration All students must register for each academic term to maintain program status. For Winter 2026, please ensure you are registered for the re-registration course: * Master's Re-registration (GRAD 7020) - CRN: 50187 2. GRAD 7300 - Research Integrity Tutorial Completion of GRAD 7300, a zero-credit, pass/fail online course on the Responsible Conduct of Research, is required. * Winter 2026 CRN: 58105 * Must be completed within the first year or prior to submitting research ethics applications. 3. GRAD 7500 - Academic Integrity Tutorial Completion of GRAD 7500 (or GRAD 7501 for French instruction) is also mandatory. This zero-credit course covers academic integrity responsibilities. * Winter 2026 CRN: 53733 (GRAD 7500) * Must be completed in the first term. Exceptions to Winter 2026 Term Re-Registration: * Students on a Parental or Exceptional Leave do not have to register in the term(s) for which this leave is approved. This message was sent from outside the University of Manitoba. Hello Everyone! We hope everyone has had a great start to the new school year! On behalf of the University of Alberta OTPDC Spirit committee, we are excited to invite you to participate in the 2025 g'OT Spirit Challenge! We hope you are all excited to share in the diversity and community of the OT profession and showcase your program's creativity. Attached to this email, you will find documents outlining the details of the challenge, however, you can read the most important details below. 1. The theme of this year's challenge is "OT Here, There, and Everywhere". As you all know, OT is a broad and diverse profession, we can't wait to see how this translates for each program. 2. Each video submission should be around 2-5 minutes in length and are due on Saturday October 18th at 12 PM MST 3. Video submissions will be sent by email to aebenson(a)ualberta.ca<mailto:aebenson@ualberta.ca>. Please include "g'OT Spirit Challenge and the name of your school in the subject line. 4. We will upload video submissions to the g'OT Spirit Facebook page (which can be found here<https://www.facebook.com/ThegOTspiritchallenge/>) 5. ) on October 19th at 12 PM MST. Voting will be open from October 19-26th. Voting will close at 11:59 PM on the 26th. 6. Winners will be announced on October 27th (World OT Day!) based on which post receives the most likes. Only likes on the original video on the g'OT spirit page will count. 7. The prize money will go to the school's charity of choice. We can't wait to celebrate the spirit of OT month with you all! My name is Katarina Jovanovic, and I am contacting you on behalf of the Sensory Perception Lab (SPiRaL) at Western University. Our team is conducting a study to investigate how different groups — individuals with ADHD, parents of children with ADHD, professionals in ADHD-related fields, and members of the general public — may differ in their perceptions and understanding of terminology related to ADHD. [CoRS-OT-2026] R160 seating

Dear MOTs, The professional programs in the College of Rehabilitation Sciences are in the process of expansion, and our first-year classes for 2025-26 are the largest we have ever admitted. Our Rehab Building has been undergoing extensive renovation over the past few years to create learning spaces that can accommodate this expansion and improve accessibility for students. R160 is an older classroom you will use on occasion while in the program, and it is scheduled for a full makeover in spring, 2026. While awaiting the renovation of R160, we are accommodating the increased class size with a mix of seating consisting of 40% chairs at tables and 60% tablet armchairs (individual chairs with a swing-away writing surface). We feel this mix will meet the accessibility needs of the variety of students in the program, as some students may need to sit at a table rather than tablet armchair. Note that we have distributed both types of seating throughout the room to accommodate your needs in terms of location (e.g., related to vision or distraction). To ensure the seating process is equitable, we are asking each of you to think about the type of seating you need for accessibility reasons that will enable you to engage well in class. If you have flexibility with your needs regarding type of seating or location, we ask that, in the spirit of creating an accessible learning environment for all, you let others find seats before you do. We request this because not all seats or locations will work for all people. This is great practice for you in your professional program as you learn to anticipate and respond to accessibility needs in new ways - a critically important skill for practicing occupational therapists. We will check in with you throughout the year to evaluate how this seating plan is working for you all. Feedback will be optional and, in most instances, collected anonymously.
