Your voice matters: Vote in the 2026 Council Referendum
From February 12 to February 13, you’re invited to take part in a pivotal decision that will impact the future of students in the Department of Occupational Therapy. The 2026 Council Referendum is your opportunity to vote on the future of the Student Initiative Fund (SIF)—funds that help enrich the academic experiences of Occupational Therapy students. ________________________________ What is the Student Initiative Fund? The Student Initiative Fund is designed to empower students through initiatives that support academic excellence and student-driven projects. These funds are supported by student contributions on a per-credit-hour or per-term basis, and your vote will determine how they are allocated. In previous years, students have benefitted from these funds through conference attendance, travel support, and the purchase of equipment and learning resources. ________________________________ Past Terms (2023) • $125 per term ($250 per year) • 80% allocated to the Student Initiative Fund • 20% allocated to the Endowment Fund • Term length: 3 years ________________________________ Proposed Terms (2026) • $125 per term (approximately $250 per year) • 80% allocated to the Student Initiative Fund • 20% allocated to the Endowment Fund • Term length: 3 years These proposed terms maintain the same annual cost and allocation structure as previous years, with a shift to a per-credit-hour model. ________________________________ Why does your vote matter? This referendum isn’t just about numbers—it’s about creating a lasting impact on students and programs that shape the future of Occupational Therapy. Your vote helps fund meaningful opportunities for your peers and supports student-led initiatives that enhance learning and professional development. Voting opens February 12 at 12:01 a.m. CST and closes February 13 at 11:59 p.m. CST. Please cast your vote via Google forms to ensure your voice is heard.
