Student Communication
Being sent on behalf of RT Department Head Jithin Sreedharan
Hello RT Students, As we approach the new academic year, we would like to reinforce an important expectation regarding communication and professional responsibility within the RT Program. Effective and timely communication is an essential component of professionalism and is critical to your success in the program. Recently, we have experienced repeated instances where emails and requests from the RT Administrative Team have received delayed responses or no response at all. Moving forward, we need everyone's cooperation in addressing this concern. Please note the following expectations, which apply to all RT students:
* Emails from the RT Program, Administrative Team, faculty, and Year Coordinators must be reviewed and responded to promptly when a response is requested. * Unless a different deadline is specified, students are expected to respond within one business day of receiving the email as you are required to be checking your email daily. * If you are unable to provide the requested information or documentation within the stated timeframe, you must still acknowledge the email and provide an update indicating when you expect to complete the request. Not responding is not considered acceptable communication. * All program-related communication must be sent using your University of Manitoba email account. * Please carefully read the entire email, instructions, deadlines, and recipient information before responding. Responses must be sent to the appropriate person or email address indicated in the request. Many administrative requests are time-sensitive and may affect clinical placements, scheduling, documentation, other departments, or program operations. A lack of response can therefore have implications beyond the individual student and may create unnecessary delays for others.
Beginning this academic year, communication expectations will be closely monitored. Repeated failure to respond, meet deadlines, or provide timely updates may be documented and referred to the Year Advisor and Department Head as a professionalism concern. Our goal is to promote a professional and responsible communication culture. If you cannot provide the requested information immediately, a brief acknowledgement and expected timeline is sufficient.
Thank you for making timely and professional communication a priority.
