Discover the health career that's right for you by joining the seasonal work experience program connecting health care students with positions in their current field of study, in their local Service Delivery Organization (SDO).

Discover Health Careers Manitoba (formerly Home for the Summer) positions offer students hands-on experience in health care environments and direct patient interactions applicable to their training.

The program began with a way to entice students to return to a rural setting upon graduation, but has opened up to sites within Winnipeg as well.

How it works

The duration of the position will be vary depending on the type of position. For allied health (ie. RT), this is up to a max of 10 weeks. Your wage will reflect your level of education ($16 - 25/hour). Space is limited, and not all that apply may be accepted into the program.

It will be the responsibility of the site manager to reach out to the student for an interview, complete all hiring decisions and is your active supervisor. Some sites use this program for their RT Assistant positions, and hire students from Year 1 and 2. This is variable by site therefore depends on what the site needs and can offer. In the past, Grace, HSC, Misericordia, St. Boniface, and Home Care Respiratory have hired a student RT but it is open to all sites that have RTs in Manitoba.
