The child feeding room is equipped with a sink, fridge, microwave, change station, couch, table and toiletries for baby and parent. This space is available to all staff, faculty and learners who would like to pump, breastfeed, chest feed or bottle feed. To all dental hygiene and dental students, We are now in full swing with clinical operations. It has been a busy week getting back to seeing patients and remembering how to use axiUm. A few points to pass along for next week in order to improve and streamline your clinical experience. 1. Students must inquire about government insurance coverage, prior to booking the patient. They should inquire with their designated PCC or if they are not available, inquire with another PCC or Katalina Munoz - Insurance Coordinator. Students must know what coverage a patient has BEFORE booking the patient. 2. When contacting patients, leave 1 week between each contact attempt to allow the patient to return your call and update the contact notes with all communication. You can request to have a patient dispositioned from your patient list only after you have attempted to contact your patient over a 3 week period (1x/week) and have this properly documented in patient contact notes. 3. Please try to refrain from coming to the window to make inquiries with your designated PCC. An email or axiUm message is preferred. If necessary, send as high importance. During certain times of the day the PCCs must focus on assigned tasks and patients. An email will be most efficient. 4. Radiology Request Forms must include the student's name that is requesting the radiographs. 5. OHAF/ HC FUND - Apply for patients who do not have Private Insurance or are 40% or 60% covered with CDCP Insurance. 6. Ensure at the end of each day you are following IPAC protocols in cleaning and disinfecting your operatory including cleaning the trap on the chair you are using. Have a great week ahead. Trenna M. Hello DH 3, On September 12th from 3pm-5pm, you will collaborate with an interprofessional (IP) team of learners from the following five programs: dentistry, dental hygiene, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and respiratory therapy. There are 30 IP teams split into two groups (Group 1: team 1-15; Group 2: teams 16-30). * Group 1: Teams 1-15 (n=15 teams) who will be in the Frederic Gaspard Theatre, aka Theatre A in the Basic Medical Science Building. Moni Fricke will be the lead IPE facilitator in the room. * Group 2: Teams 16-30 (n= 15 teams) who will be in Theatre B in the Basic Medical Science Building. The healthcare team of which you are a member, meets Sandy in the dental clinic given cardiac-related condition has been ruled out. As a team, take a history of Sandy's jaw pain. The team may choose to externally palpate the jaw, and assess range of motion. Sandy has COPD and hypertension. Sandy experiences compliance challenges with healthcare providers' recommendation, for example, physical activity and smoking cessation. For the purpose of the simulation, imagine the dental clinic is within a healthcare clinic. Please note: infection control protocol requires the clinician to wash hands, don gloves, and wear a face mask when touching a patient. These will be available in the dental clinic. Do not perform an internal oral physical assessment as the simulation is not set up for this. In preparation, you might consider using an AI, like Co-pilot and insert the scenario into the chat and ask what your role might be in the scenario. Do know that standardized patient has much a fuller story share than you have been provided in the scenario above. Do focus on the fact that Sandy does experience challenges with some professional recommendation. You are not responsible for coming with a care or treatment plan, that is not the focus of the IPE session. Rather, it is about learning about, with, and from each other-for example, the types of questions you ask and your perspectives. Be curious. Here is a table with your team numbers.
