Susan Petras Connect with Health Profession Students to Explore Oral Health-Health As a health profession student we invite you to participate in a pilot of a novel initiative titled: Team-Based Collaborative Experiential Learning (TBCEL): From Head to Toes The initiative offers a unique opportunity to engage in team-based learning with students from other health disciplines and patients, focusing on the integration of oral and overall health. Though oral health is integral to overall health, it is often underrepresented in non-oral health professional education. This pilot offers you the opportunity to explore the relationship in a collaborative manner with fellow health profession students in an experiential learning practice setting. We hope you join us and help interprofessional education planners gain insights into future opportunities promoting wholistic healthcare. A short information session about the pilot will be held on Monday, Feb 23, 12:15-12:45 PM in Merkley. These will take place between February and end of March/early April. · Team Focus Group (via UM Zoom during a noon hour; no more than 80 minutes). This will take place after the second patient meeting and before the end of April/beginning of May. The TBCEL is an opportunity to volunteer in helping develop quality interprofessional education sessions for the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences students. Additionally, those who maintain portfolios, it is an opportunity to reflect on a novel interprofessional collaboration experience. Endodontic Treatment Guidelines

D3 and D4 students, For teeth planned for endodontic treatment you must have the following information included in your patient notes: Tooth # - percussion sensitivity (Yes/No), apical palpation tenderness (Yes/No), EPT results, cold test results, mobility, any probing depths >3mm, restorable (Yes/No) Then with that information you need to clearly indicate a pulpal and periapical diagnosis for the tooth in question Without data collection and a diagnosis, you should never proceed with endodontic treatment for a tooth (at the college or in private practice). If the treatment is elective endo then you still need to collect and report all data and pulpal and periapical diagnosis, then clearly state why elective endodontic treatment is needed. All endo treatment assignments are managed through the PCCs Elaine and Athena. They must be aware of when you are moving forward with endo treatment on any assigned patient. For all endo co-assignments within D3 and D4 these must be emailed to myself, Elaine and Athena to be reviewed and reassigned. If I do not see the information listed above the case will be on hold until you have properly collected/recorded in the patient chart the necessary pulp vitality testing information and confirmed an endodontic diagnosis.
