FINAL - Fall Term 2025 Examination Schedule
by Susan Petras 23 Oct '26

23 Oct '26

Hello Dentistry Students. Please note that the exam schedule is now FINAL. Exams have been scheduled/confirmed in UM Learn. Please be reminded of the policies listed below and seek supports as needed as we enter the stress of end of term. Good luck on all your exams and I hope you have a very restful winter holiday! Susan Susan Petras Student Affairs Coordinator Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry University of Manitoba D113 - 780 Bannatyne Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3E 0W2 [cid:image001.jpg@01DC3E84.6E813940] (204) 789-3484 Susan.Petras(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:Susan.Petras@umanitoba.ca> Please be reminded of the following College policies (as listed on your course outlines): Deferred/Make-up Exams: Examinations that, due to student absence, must be re-administered at times other than the scheduled period, are highly disruptive to the course sequence. They require the preparation of another examination, scheduling of a testing location, and the assignment of faculty to proctor the exam. The different date has the potential to afford an unfair advantage to a student. The Course Coordinator may, at his/her discretion, choose to alter the format of a re-administered examination to accommodate the above concerns. A re-administered examination may include one or a combination of short answer, essay, or multiple-choice questions, and can be in either oral or written format. Students are expected to write examinations on the scheduled dates. Students with unexcused examination absences will be given a mark of zero ('0') for the exam. To obtain a deferral for an examination, students must give notice of the absence to the Instructor, Course Coordinator, and the Dean's Office (absent(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:absent@umanitoba.ca>) of the absence prior to the start of the examination. This can be a very stressful time of year. If you need some help in coping with the stress, please contact: STUDENT SERVICES AT BANNATYNE CAMPUS https://umanitoba.ca/student-supports/student-services-bannatyne-campus

Mastering the Addictive World of Slope
by markjoyce＠virgilian.com 22 Jul '26

22 Jul '26

Ever find yourself needing a quick, engaging game that tests your reflexes and concentration? Look no further than Slope. This deceptively simple game, available online, is surprisingly addictive and offers a satisfying challenge that can keep you coming back for more. It's perfect for a quick break, a train commute, or just when you need to sharpen your focus. Let's delve into the world of Slope and see what makes it so captivating. Getting Started: Gameplay Basics At its core, Slope is a minimalist endless runner. You control a ball hurtling down an infinitely generated, 3D slope. The goal? Survive as long as possible. Sounds easy, right? Think again. The beauty of Slope lies in its simplicity and the steep (pun intended!) learning curve. You control the ball's movement with just two keys: left and right. These keys shift the ball laterally, allowing you to navigate around obstacles and stay on the ever-narrowing path. The speed is relentless. The further you travel, the faster you go, increasing the challenge exponentially. Precision and quick reflexes are key. You’ll need to anticipate turns, dodge red blocks that appear seemingly out of nowhere, and stay focused amidst the increasingly frenetic pace. As you progress, the terrain becomes more complex. You'll encounter increasingly tight turns, steeper drops, and more strategically placed obstacles. Mastering the art of subtle adjustments becomes crucial. A slight tap of the left or right key can be the difference between a near miss and a game over. While the core gameplay remains consistent, Slope throws in some subtle variations to keep things fresh. Occasionally, you'll encounter ramps that launch you into the air, allowing you to bypass sections of the path. This adds a layer of strategic decision-making; do you risk the jump, or play it safe and stick to the ground? Tips and Tricks for the Aspiring Slope Master https://slopegame-online.com Ready to improve your Slope game? Here are a few tips to help you achieve a higher score and master the slopes: Practice makes perfect: This is perhaps the most obvious advice, but it's also the most important. The more you play, the better you'll become at anticipating turns and reacting quickly. Focus on the road ahead: Try to look slightly ahead of your ball, rather than directly at it. This will give you more time to react to upcoming obstacles. Small adjustments are key: Avoid over-steering. Gentle taps of the left and right keys are often more effective than holding them down. Use the edges: Running along the edges of the path can sometimes give you a slight speed boost. Learn the obstacle patterns: While the level generation is random, certain obstacle placements are more common than others. By learning these patterns, you can anticipate them and react more effectively. Don't be afraid to slow down: While speed is important, sometimes a controlled descent is better than a reckless one. Ease off the controls slightly when approaching tricky sections to give yourself more time to react. Patience is paramount: You will crash. A lot. Don't get discouraged. Every crash is a learning opportunity. Analyze what went wrong and try to avoid making the same mistake next time. Why not try out Slope and practice these tips! Conclusion: A Simple Game with Enduring Appeal Slope is a testament to the fact that a game doesn't need complex graphics or intricate storylines to be engaging. Its simple gameplay, coupled with its challenging difficulty, makes it a perfect game for quick bursts of fun or longer gaming sessions. The constant pursuit of a higher score keeps players coming back for more, making it a remarkably addictive and endlessly replayable experience. The next time you are looking for a simple yet engaging game, remember these tips and tricks and you'll be gliding down the slopes in no time!

Senior Lab Clean-up
by Trenna Reeve 24 Mar '26

24 Mar '26

D3 students, This will be your last reminder. The state of the senior lab is your responsibility and it is not being attended to in an acceptable manner. The options are: 1. You keep the senior lab clean, neat and tidy, and it remains open for you after hours and on weekends, OR 2. The senior lab hours are limited to 8am to 5pm daily and closed on the weekends. If I enter the lab again and it is not in a clean state, then I will be forced to close the lab for everyone until I can arrange for custodial services to clean the space which may take days. It is a busy time of the year so the demand in the senior lab is high. Keep it clean. Dr. Reeve Trenna M. Denture Delivery Patient Instructions
by Trenna Reeve 23 Mar '26

23 Mar '26

D3 and D4 students, When you deliver your complete dentures, it is valuable to verbally explain to your patients what to expect short term and long term for new and repeat denture wearers. To help you with this communication a brochure has been developed for you to share with your patient to help prepare and inform them of what to expect with their new dentures. These brochures will be held in the dispensary. Ensure that you verbally review what to expect with your patient and provide them with a brochure to reference. Dr. Reeve Trenna M. Get Your Game Face On: A Fun Look at Football Bros
by sapphirekayla＠sharebot.net 20 Mar '26

20 Mar '26

Ready for some over-the-top, physics-based football mayhem? Then you might want to check out Football Bros. It’s not your typical Madden experience; think more along the lines of ragdoll antics, hilarious tackles, and pure, unadulterated arcade fun. This article will give you a breakdown of the game, how to play, some helpful tips, and hopefully, inspire you to give it a try. https://footballbrosfree.com Introduction: Forget the Rules, Embrace the Chaos! Forget complex formations, playbooks, and meticulously planned strategies. Football Bros is all about simple controls, unpredictable physics, and laugh-out-loud moments. It's a game that's easy to pick up but surprisingly difficult to master. You’ll find yourself contorting your digital athletes into the most bizarre positions imaginable, leading to moments of both triumph and utter failure. The charm of Football Bros lies in its simplicity and its ability to generate unpredictable and comical situations. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just looking for a quick and entertaining distraction, this game has something to offer. Gameplay: Simple Controls, Hilarious Results The core gameplay of Football Bros is surprisingly straightforward. You control two players on your team, an offensive player and a defensive player, using simple keyboard controls. Typically, you'll use the WASD keys for movement and the spacebar for jumping and tackling. That's it! The objective is, of course, to score touchdowns. On offense, you’ll need to maneuver your player down the field, avoiding defenders (or strategically running them over). The ragdoll physics engine plays a huge role here. A well-timed jump or a strategic tackle can send your opponent flying, creating opportunities to break free and sprint towards the end zone. On defense, your goal is to stop the opposing player from scoring. You can do this by tackling them, intercepting the ball, or simply trying to knock them off their feet. Tackling in Football Bros isn't about precision; it's about brute force and a little bit of luck. You'll often see players flopping, tumbling, and colliding in the most absurd ways. The game typically features different modes, including single-player against AI opponents and a highly enjoyable two-player mode where you can challenge your friends to a hilarious head-to-head battle. The simplicity of the controls and the unpredictable physics make it perfect for some lighthearted competition. Tips to Dominate the Gridiron (or at Least Not Embarrass Yourself): While Football Bros is easy to learn, a few tips can help you improve your game and increase your chances of victory: • Master the Jump: The jump is your best friend in Football Bros. Use it to dodge tackles, gain extra speed, and even leap over defenders. A well-timed jump can make all the difference between scoring a touchdown and getting flattened. • Embrace the Tackle: Don't be afraid to get physical! Tackling is crucial for stopping your opponent on defense. Try to time your tackles to knock them off balance or send them flying. Even if you miss, you might still manage to disrupt their momentum. • Use the Environment: Some versions of Football Bros may include environmental elements that you can use to your advantage. For instance, you might be able to bounce off walls to gain speed or use obstacles to block defenders. • Practice Makes...Less Terrible: The physics engine can be a bit unpredictable, so don't get discouraged if you don't succeed immediately. Keep practicing, experimenting with different strategies, and learning how the physics work. • Two-Player is King: While the single-player mode is fun, Football Bros truly shines in two-player mode. Grab a friend, fire up the game, and prepare for some hilarious and competitive action. • Strategic Running: Don't just blindly run forward. Observe the position of the defenders and try to find openings. A well-timed juke or a quick change of direction can help you evade tackles and create scoring opportunities. You can even find Football Bros to play online, and challenge other people. • Don’t Overthink It: Remember, this isn’t about meticulous strategy. It’s about having fun! Embrace the chaos and enjoy the ridiculousness of the gameplay. Conclusion: A Recipe for Fun and Mayhem Football Bros is a delightful departure from traditional football games. Its simple controls, unpredictable physics, and over-the-top action make it a perfect choice for casual gamers and anyone looking for a quick and entertaining distraction. Whether you're playing solo against the AI or battling it out with a friend, this game is guaranteed to provide plenty of laughs and memorable moments. So, ditch the complex strategies, embrace the chaos, and get ready for some hilarious, physics-based football mayhem! It’s a fun way to unwind and enjoy some lighthearted competition. Give it a try – you might just surprise yourself with how much fun you have!

Spring Clinic 2026
by Trenna Reeve 16 Mar '26

16 Mar '26

D3 students, I am reaching out to see who is interested in participating in Spring Clinic 2026. The Spring Clinic is a DENT 4000 course and is an elective course. As this is a fourth-year dentistry course, you must have successfully completed all third year clinical and course requirements before being eligible to register and participate in this course. The Spring Clinic would run from 19 May until 12 June 2026. Clinics include emergency, screening, removable prosthodontics, treatment planning, and operative. All procedures completed and grades would count towards your DENT 4222 General Practice Dentistry D4 credits and any patients that you complete a treatment plan for would stay assigned to you in order for you to start treatment at the beginning of the fall clinical sessions. External and internal rotations are pending. This is an amazing opportunity to build your skills and confidence in preparation for a demanding fourth year of dental school. If you are interested in this opportunity and able to commit to the full Spring Clinic time period, please let me know via outlook email by 27 March 2026. There is a limited number of students that we can accept for this opportunity so only apply if you are committed. Any questions let me know. Dr. Reeve Trenna M. Clinic/OHAF Update 16 Mar 2026
by Trenna Reeve 16 Mar '26

16 Mar '26

To all students, 1. OHAF update - the OHAF grant has been extended. What does this mean? * Any OHAF application that HAS BEEN APPROVED - you have until the end of this academic year to complete treatment - you do not need to have treatment completed by 31 March as was the case before the grant extension. You have until the end of this academic year (May 2026). * BUT - We have NOT been given any more funding, so OHAF applications that have not been approved to date will still NOT be approved. If you have submitted and OHAF application and it has NOT BEEN APPROVED I would recommend that you speak with the applicable course coordinator to see if other funding opportunities might be possible (endowment funds). 2. As we get closer to the end of the academic year be reminded that it is the student's responsibility to follow up with their patients regarding any outstanding balances on the patient account. 3. We will continue to screen patients. When the front desk is booking the screening appointments they are letting the potential patients know that they will not be assigned to a dental/dental hygiene student until the fall and thus if they have a dental emergency they must seek treatment in a private practice office until they are assigned to a student in the fall 2026. Please ensure you also discuss this with any patient that is screened and accepted. Have a great week. Trenna M.
