Hello dental and dental hygiene students,
I wanted to draw your attention to interprofessional education opportunities outside the dental and dental hygiene curriculum that may interest you. The Office of Interprofessional Collaboration (OIPC), RFHS offers several experiential learning opportunities to engage with Indigenous communities in Manitoba and the Amazon. These are posted on the OIPC webpagehttps://umanitoba.ca/health-sciences/student-experience/interprofessional-collaboration. Please scroll down the OIPC webpage to learn more and access application forms. Please note the 2027 dates for engaging with Indigenous communities in Manitoba will be posted early in 2027 as these take place in the spring/summer. If you would like to apply to go with the learning team to the Amazon, but missed a deadline, I encourage you to contact Lisa Mendez, OIPC Collaborative Healthcare Practice Coordinator at Lisa.Mendez@umanitoba.camailto:Lisa.Mendez@umanitoba.ca
Please check with your respective programs if the dates are conducive to your program schedule and other commitments.

I acknowledge that the University of Manitoba campuses are located on original lands of Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anisininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Dene and Inuit, and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis . I respect the treaties made on these territories. I acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past and present. With a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration, I move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities. In all my actions, I am grounded in salutogenesis, and aim to contribute to health creation within places and settings where people live, learn, play, work, and love.
