My name is Laura Friesen and I am the Administrative Coordinator for the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry. One of my responsibilities is organizing the preclinical and clinical schedules for our faculty. On behalf of Dr. Aaron Kim, Acting Department Head, I am pleased to share an exciting opportunity. We are currently looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals to join us as part-time instructors. This role would initially involve supporting students in preclinical labs and/or early clinical experience labs, offering guidance and mentorship as they develop their skills. We believe this would be a fantastic way for you to stay connected with the College and begin giving back as an alumnus. MDA Verification of Graduation

Hello D4, As the year wraps up, please do not send an e-mail request to the Dean to provide a letter to the MDA to verify your graduation. This process is automatic with the College. We send a letter with all student names verifying Graduation after Dentistry College Council approves the grad lists on May 5th in the afternoon. I send a letter to the MDA shortly after approvals are done. I have not seen the licensure package this year from the MDA but there is generally a need to provide a letter of reference from a Faculty member. This is separate from the Dean's verification of graduation and if you are wishing to ask the Dean for one of these, please contact her directly. If you are planning on registering with another dental licensing body (another province) you will need to send me an e-mail request to send them a letter of confirmation of graduation and any form they may require confirming graduation. I will send out letters directly to the licensing body after May 5th. I also send a confirmation to the NDEB of graduation (after May 5th). They normally send out certificates around the date of Convocation. Please ensure that you update your mailing address with the NDEB via their portal. If you used a more formal (official) name for your NDEB application than what is on our Class list, please let me know so that our list matches theirs and confirmation of graduation goes smoothly. If you need to order a transcript, please see the following website for information on the process. Note that you may want to wait until closer to convocation to order one as the date of graduation does not get added on until certain verification processes happen in the Registrar's Office. https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/transcripts Happy Spring! Lavender Graduation 2026 - An Invitation to Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry 2SLGBTQIA+ Grads

Hello, Lavender Graduation<https://lavendergraduationlegacyproject.org/about-us/> is an annual ceremony conducted on numerous campuses to honor queer and trans students to acknowledge their achievements and contributions as they graduate their degrees. The Lavender Graduation Ceremony was created by Dr. Ronni Sanlo, a lesbian who was denied the opportunity to attend the graduations of her children because of her sexual orientation. In response, she organized the first Lavender Graduation ceremony at the University of Michigan in 1995. Since 1995, Lavender Graduation ceremonies have happened across North America, most predominantly in the United States. In 2018, McGill University made history when it became the first post-secondary institution outside of the United States to host a Lavender Graduation. Since 2024, the Queer & Trans Graduate Student Group has hosted a Lavender Graduation ceremony at the University of Manitoba. At this ceremony, grads from all post-secondary institutions in Manitoba who are 2SLGBTQIA+ are welcome to attend and be celebrated for their accomplishments. Students who have graduated in the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 or will be graduating in Summer 2026/Fall 2026 are welcome to be a graduate this ceremony. This ceremony is symbolic in nature and no parchments are conferred. I would greatly appreciate if you could share this information with students in your college.
