D3 and D4 students,
For teeth planned for endodontic treatment you must have the following information included in your patient notes:
Tooth # - percussion sensitivity (Yes/No), apical palpation tenderness (Yes/No), EPT results, cold test results, mobility, any probing depths >3mm, restorable (Yes/No)
Then with that information you need to clearly indicate a pulpal and periapical diagnosis for the tooth in question Without data collection and a diagnosis, you should never proceed with endodontic treatment for a tooth (at the college or in private practice). If the treatment is elective endo then you still need to collect and report all data and pulpal and periapical diagnosis, then clearly state why elective endodontic treatment is needed.
All endo treatment assignments are managed through the PCCs Elaine and Athena. They must be aware of when you are moving forward with endo treatment on any assigned patient. For all endo co-assignments within D3 and D4 these must be emailed to myself, Elaine and Athena to be reviewed and reassigned. If I do not see the information listed above the case will be on hold until you have properly collected/recorded in the patient chart the necessary pulp vitality testing information and confirmed an endodontic diagnosis.
