notes during dataentry in EDEC
Dear list-members In the "old" EpiData Entry, a note editor can be opened during data entry using F5, the note is stamped with the time, observation (record), and field from which you hit F5. This allow easy documentation of decisions made during data entry, as the person entering information can describe the situation and decision. This seems not to be implemented in the Manager/Entry Client structure, so my question is whether any of my fellow users have developed an alternative using other software, allowing parsing of information on record and variable? My experience is that the information is not always noted if using a paper or notepad solution leading to poorer documentation than in the EDE days. Best wishes

Regarding handling of notes during entry:
Currently the EntryClient supports one way of doing this: Copy Record to Clipboard (shift ctrl c)
But this function will copy ALL fields according to a user specified format, which is described here: http://www.epidata.info/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=documentation:clipboardformat
We will consider ways of handling the suggestion. Basically we could :
a. Before adding all the field specific information from the current record, then add system time, user information and record number.
b. Add a new function "Copy Field to Clipboard" which essentially will replicate the EpiData Classic way of doing this.
But input from users is welcomed, such that we know more of what type of supplementary functionality is needed. E.g. is it sufficient to have a "F5" functional form.
When we get to development of scripting (the old before record ...end ..... after record ... end principle) calling external software is an aspect that could handle this with a plugin or other principle.
