Assistant/Associate Professor Position

The Department of Gender and Women's Studies invites applications and nominations for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor tenure-track faculty position in Black feminist studies, broadly defined. We are seeking applicants whose research and teaching will contribute to the department's existing strengths in transnational, global and diasporic feminisms; trans studies; and queer of color critique. We welcome applicants whose work engages areas such as (but not limited to) environmental studies, indigeneity, and practice-based research/methods.
The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of or potential for interdisciplinary research publication and preparation to teach core courses in Gender and Women's Studies. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active research program, and provide service to the department, the university and various publics.
A PhD in Gender and Women's Studies, African American Studies, Ethnic Studies, or related field is required. The anticipated starting date is August 16, 2023; the starting salary is commensurate with experience. Candidates whose Ph.D. may be delayed but will complete all the Ph.D. requirements within the first appointment year may be appointed at the rank of Instructor. After the Ph.D. requirement is met, the appointment will be changed to Assistant Professor.
