A Coach-approach to Management - February 11 (New This Year) - This new workshop is part of the new UM Management Essentials program and can also be taken as a stand-alone workshop. Coaching is a powerful tool for enhancing employee wellbeing and performance, and an increasingly important managerial skill in the rapidly changing workplace. This workshop builds a foundational understanding of coaching principles and skills. Participants will learn a coaching model; discuss how and when to integrate taking a coach-approach in their role; and practice coaching skills.
Growing your UM Career - February 17 (New This Year) - This session is designed to help you explore and grow your professional path within the UM community. You'll learn how to identify and articulate your transferable skills, tailor your resume to internal opportunities, and prepare for a variety of interview formats with confidence. Whether you're actively seeking a new role or simply planning ahead, this session will provide practical tools and strategies to help you map your career journey at UM.
Manager's Forum: Fostering an Inclusive Workplace - February 23 (New This Year) - LOD is pleased to introduce a series of short sessions designed to support skills development in managers and supervisors while offering the space to connect with peers in a meaningful and purposeful way. Various topics will be offered. In this session, participants will explore preliminary topics on fostering an inclusive workplace within their work at the University and take part in a collaborative discussion to share experiences, challenges, and strategies.
Critical Dialogues - February 10 - Communicating with clarity and using our verbal skills to share, exchange and invite dialogue with others are critical workplace skills for many roles in our community. This workshop covers topics relating to clarity, nonverbal communication, listening, empathy, respect, feedback and more.
Presentation Skills - February 3 - Any of us may be called upon to make a presentation, at a meeting, during an interview or when trying to convince or influence others. This workshop will provide you with tools to help you to prepare your presentations, follow the V.O.I.C.E. model to make presentations, and review the use of the most common visual aids.
