LOD Workshops and Sessions that may interest you

I am pleased to tell you that Learning & Organizational Development (LOD) has opened our training and development workshops to the end of May, 2025. Going forward, we will continue to open the calendar several weeks in advance and I encourage you to check the LODReg page regularly to view all of the employee learning and development opportunities as they become available. LOD workshops and sessions are fully funded by Human Resources and are offered exclusively to UManitoba employees.
Some workshops that may interest you include:
Hiring in Good Ways: Tuesday, May 20, 1:00 to 4:00pm: Those involved in hiring will benefit from increasing their awareness and understanding of Indigenous history and culture. During this session, participants will examine the historical relationships between Indigenous peoples and post-secondary institutions, and explore the impact of historical relationships on Indigenous applicants. (This workshop will also be offered on June 5. Registration for June workshops will open in a few weeks).
Inclusive Hiring Practices: Wednesday, April 16, 9:00 am to noon OR Wednesday, May 21, 9:00 am to noon: Those involved in recruitment, selection, hiring and onboarding functions for non-academic employees hold special responsibilities when conducting these activities. This workshop provides a foundation of knowledge that will support our institutional efforts to have consistent and widespread integration of inclusive hiring practices.
Annual Review & Development Plan: Tuesday, May 27, 9:00 am to noon: Performance development is a continuous process to assist staff in performing to the best of their abilities, enabling them to continuously develop and integrate individual performance goals and strategies with the unit and university's strategic plans. Those with supervisory responsibilities are encouraged to attend this training to learn how to use the available tools to assist in their planning and preparation of annual performance reviews.
Project Management, Thursday, May 29, 9:00 am to 4:00pm: Learn how to plan your next project using a simple and structured step-by-step process. This workshop introduces you to general project management processes, techniques, and vocabulary. Participants will leave with an understanding of the project management process from start to finish and able to contribute to the implementation of large projects and to lead small projects effectively. (This workshop will also be offered on June 18. Registration for June workshops will open in a few weeks).
The "Pathing Your UMCareer" series is moving online this spring to increase accessibility to these short sessions, which are designed to support you in your career planning at UManitoba. The session on 'Resumes' will be held April 14, 'Transferable Skills' is on May 12, and 'Interviews' will be held May 26.
