I am pleased to highlight some of the upcoming LOD offerings which support supervisors and managers in their roles. While these sessions focus on skills for people leaders, the invitation to register is extended to all employees as these may be developmental opportunities for future roles at the university.
Some workshops that may interest you include:
Manager's Forum: Fostering an Inclusive Workplace - February 23 (in-person) or March 2 (online) - LOD is pleased to introduce a series of short sessions designed to support skills development in managers and supervisors while offering the space to connect with peers in a meaningful and purposeful way. Various topics will be offered. In this session, participants will explore preliminary topics on fostering an inclusive workplace within their work at the University and take part in a collaborative discussion to share experiences, challenges, and strategies.
Manager's Forum: Advancing Reconciliation - March 16 (in-person) or March 23 (online) - In this session, participants will explore preliminary materials on advancing reconciliation within their work at the University and take part in a collaborative discussion to share experiences, challenges, and strategies. The session aims to support collective learning and strengthen our shared commitment to reconciliation.
Annual Review & Development Plan - February 26 (online) or April 22 (in-person): Performance development is a continuous process to assist employees in performing and enabling them to continuously develop and integrate individual performance goals and strategies with the unit and university's strategic plans. The Annual Review and Development plan is a synopsis and assessment of the year completed and sets expectations for the year ahead. Supervisors are encouraged to attend the training session and to use the tools and guidelines to assist in their planning and preparation of annual performance reviews.
UM Collective Agreements (Support Staff) - March 4 (online): This workshop is designed for all UM managers and supervisors and provides a high-level introduction to staff relations responsibilities related to collective agreements with support staff. This session focuses on our human resource management responsibilities and the importance of policies, collective agreements, hiring practices, performance management, discipline, sick leave and other related areas.
