Paula Hossack, Career Consultant, and Jim McLaren, Professional Coach, would like to invite you to take part in this voluntary reflection exercise to assist in your career planning. The Department of Family Medicine is excited to welcome you all to the third Med.Zero event at the University of Manitoba, Max Rady College of Medicine. Date: August 17, 2026 Time: 11 am - 4 pm Registration and mingle: 11 am lunch: 11:45 am Location: Brodie Atrium * First floor of Brodie Centre * Enter through 727 McDermot Ave. entrance (see attached map) We have a fun afternoon planned. You will meet your classmates, Family Physicians, and residents and be introduced to the specialty of Family Medicine! There will be clinical skills workshops that will introduce you to IUD insertions, pap tests, airway management, delivering a baby, ultrasound, and an exciting surprise station! You will each participate in two of the clinical skills workshops. If you would like to learn a little more about some of these procedures, although not a requirement to participate, please see the following links to videos/text. As a reminder, please complete your PHIA training as it is required for participation in some of the stations. Incoming Med 1 students - Financial Literacy Session

Congratulations on your offer of admission and welcome to the Max Rady College of Medicine! While this is a very exciting time for you, we know it may be stressful to consider the financial cost of a medical education. Aside from tuition costs, there will be the added cost of electives and residency interviews along with the cost of housing, groceries, and transportation expenses to name a few. We are here to help. Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge and tools to manage your personal finances during your 4 years at the Max Rady College of Medicine. The College of Medicine is offering a 1-hour financial information session for you and your family. We will review the cost of medical education and discuss bursaries, student loans, bank lines of credit, and disability insurance. The information session will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm. This session will be conducted virtually through Zoom. Sign-in information will be sent to you by email once your registration is confirmed. This session is not mandatory, but we strongly encourage you and your family to attend. There will be ample time for questions at the end of the session.
