This message is being sent on behalf of Allen Harrington, Professor, Recital/Jury Coordinator (Classical), Desautels Faculty of Music Hello students and MPS teachers, Jury sign-up sheets by area (Composition, Piano, Strings, Voice, Woodwind/Brass/Percussion) will be available outside the Main Music Office (room T319) Monday, March 2nd at 9:00am through Friday, March 6th 4:00pm. Students need to: * Select and sign up for a timeslot * Arrange for a collaborative pianist to be present at your jury if your repertoire requires it * At your jury, make sure to bring an extra copy of the music for the jurors to view Who does a jury? All students in the Bachelor of Music Program: General Concentration, History Concentration, Performance Concentration** and the Music Education concentrations are required to perform a Jury Examination as part of their Major Practical Study courses. **Students in Performance Concentration are NOT required to perform a Jury Examination for Major Practical Study courses MUSC 3470 and MUSC 4470 if they are registered in a credit recital that year. Post-Baccalaureate Diploma students are NOT required to perform a Jury Examination for Major Practical Study course MUSC 5400 if they are registered in a credit recital that year. Extended deadline: Ensemble Competition application

Hello, We are extending the deadline to submit applications to the annual St. John’s College/Desautels Faculty of Music Ensemble Competition. The new application deadline is Friday, February 27, 2026. The application form is attached. If you require accommodation to perform, please inform us when submitting your application. Here are other important dates: Preliminary Round: March 7, 2026 at 10 AM in T2-266 Final Round: March 20, 2026, 12:30 – 01:20 PM at St. John’s Chapel · At the Preliminary Round, the jurors will choose one winning ensemble from each category. These groups will each receive a prize of $300.00, to be split evenly between the members of the ensemble. · The three winning ensembles will perform at the Final Round on Friday, March 20, 2026 (12:30 – 01:20 p.m.) the culmination of the annual St. John’s College’s Art Competition. An audience prize of $300.00 will be awarded to one of the three ensembles, to be split evenly between the members of the ensemble. The final round will be immediately followed by a reception at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Chapel. Schedule Update for Piano/Strings - Concerto Competition

Hello, Due to the availability of the jury, the piano/strings preliminaries for the Concerto Competition will take place at 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 28 in Eva Clare Hall. All Concerto Competition prelim’s, then, will take place between 1:00 & 4:00 PM (Vocal prelim’s in T2-266, WW/Brass/Percussion in T2-145). RG

St. John’s College/Desautels Faculty of Music Ensemble Competition 2026

This message is being sent on behalf of Jody Stark, Associate Dean (Undergrad Programs), Desautels Faculty of Music. Dear Desautels community, You are invited to participate in the annual St. John’s College/Desautels Faculty of Music Ensemble Competition. The application deadline is Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The application form is attached. This competition was initiated in 2020, a counterpart to the Annual Art competition held at St. John’s College. The Preliminary Round will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, adjudicated by a jury panel of Desautels faculty members. The audience will vote on an Audience Choice award at the Final Round; there is no jury at the Finals. The Final Round will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 12:30-1:20 pm, in the St. John’s College Chapel and is part of the final event of their annual Art Competition. Apart from limitations on the size of ensembles listed below, there are no restrictions on the type of ensemble or repertoire. This competition is open to all students in the B. Music, B. Jazz Studies, Post-Bacc, and M. Music. There are three categories: 1) Instrumental Ensemble (2-6 instrumentalists) 2) Singer with Instrumental Ensemble (1 singer, 2-6 instrumentalists) 3) Vocal Ensemble (2-6 singers with or without collaborating musicians) At the Preliminary Round, the jurors will choose one winning ensemble from each category. These groups will each receive a prize of $300, to be split evenly between the members of the ensemble. The three winning ensembles will perform at the Final Round on March 20, 2026, the culmination of the annual St. John’s College’s Art Competition.
