On request of Dr. Malcolm Doupe, Director of The Manitoba Training Program (MTP) for Health Services Research: Hello, I hope this email finds you well! The MTP is a unique training program that supports students conducting health services research. During this one-year program, students have an opportunity to gain an understanding of the complex healthcare system and the role of evidence in policy making through focused academic coursework, seminar discussions, knowledge translation training, and work placements within the Manitoba healthcare delivery system. For additional information please visit: https://umanitoba.ca/medicine/department-community-health-sciences/manitoba… We are welcoming thesis-based Master's and PhD students (including students who will be beginning their graduate program in September 2022) from health and non-health backgrounds - and a wide-range of other units and disciplines to apply into the MTP. Accepted students receive a one-year financial stipend: $17,500 for MSc, $22,500 for PhD. The deadline to apply is April 1st, 2022. The opportunities for networking within the Canadian Student Health Research Forum (CSHRF) are broad, including the broad-spectrum symposium by Gairdner laureates (June 16) and a workshop on Career Development (June 14). Funding Opportunity: CHI's PREPPP Award for early patient engagement in health research

To all faculty, students, and community organizations conducting health research: The Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI)<https://www.chimb.ca/> is launching its annual PREPPP (Preparing for Research by Engaging Patient and Public Partners) Award<http://www.chimb.ca/preppp> for pre-grant engagement of patients and the public in health research. There are five awards of $4,000 each available to Manitoba researchers, community organizations, and/or students who are planning to engage with people with lived experience (patients, caregivers, parents, families, communities, advocates, and members of the public) in the research design and grant development phase of their work. To date, the PREPPP Award has funded early engagement for 39 projects, many of which have gone on to win larger grants and continue to engage with patient and public partners throughout their research. Some have also participated as presenters for CHI's Patient and Public Engagement Lunchtime Learning series<http://www.chimb.ca/pe-lunchtimelearning>. Please circulate this information within your faculty. The Lab2Market Program is a 16 week program to help researchers (primarily graduate students and PDFs) validate their ideas with the purpose of finding business/commercial value. The program is based on similar programs that have found success in other parts of the world, but with a Canadian twist. L2M Winnipeg follows three successful L2M implementations at L2M Toronto (Ryerson University), L2M Halifax (Dalhousie University) and L2M Oceans (Memorial University).
