Dear Colleague
The Manitoba Medical Service Foundation (MMSF) 2027 Research Operating Grant Competition is now open to applications. To ensure that eligible researchers at your institution don’t miss out on this funding opportunity, the MMSF Board of Directors is seeking your help in promoting this funding opportunity within your organization.
The Manitoba Medical Service Foundation (MMSF) provides funding to advance science, education and other activities in order to maintain and improve the health and welfare of Manitobans. The MMSF supports all areas of health research which includes but is not limited to medicine, nursing, nutrition, exercise, physiology, surgery, rehabilitation, mental health, 2SLGBTQIA+, molecular and basic science, economics of health research, and ways to improve health care.
The primary focus of the Foundation is to promote and encourage the work of early career health researchers in Manitoba. Early Career Researchers are those who are within five (5) years of the date of the first independent research-related appointment. These may include Residents and Clinical Fellows (Residents and Clinical Fellows are not required to have an academic or research appointment). The MMSF defines the start of the five (5) years to begin when the applicants received their first appointment at a research institution in any province or country.
Please direct all interested parties to the MMSF website at www.mmsf.cahttp://www.mmsf.ca for details on eligibility, the application process and how to apply after February 1, 2026. I am including a copy of the current guidelines and application form for your information.
The deadline for applications is June 1 in any given year. Also, successful applicants will have their funding commence on January 1 of the following year and will have two years to complete their research project.
Deadline: Monday, June 1, 2026 at 4:00 pm. Applications should be sent to info@mmsf.camailto:info@mmsf.ca.
Please note: Applications may be submitted in a language of the applicant’s choice, however, to ensure that all applications are similarly and fairly adjudicated, any applications and related materials that are submitted in a language other than English must be accompanied by an accurate translation issued by the primary investigator or a member in good standing of a provincial or territorial organization of translators and interpreters in Canada. Reviews, grant agreements, interviews and all correspondence will be conducted in English. The MMSF does not have the ability to translate applications, documents, or correspondence or to conduct interviews in any other language.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Sandy Pereira, MMSF Administrative Assistant at sandy.pereira@mb.bluecross.camailto:sandy.pereira@mb.bluecross.ca (copied on this message) or myself.
Sincerely
