Thank you for participating in the meeting poll. There is no perfect time, but the best is September 15 at 4:00. I will set a meeting for then.
As it turns out, this must be a full meeting of the SBMS faculty council. Upon review of our governance bylaws, we have not established and empowered an executive council, and all approving power lies with the faculty council. I will seek to amend our bylaws to create a suitably delegated executive council soon but for now, the urgent matter I mentioned Friday must go before full council or we risk extended delays.
The faculty council has a set composition, guided by our bylaws (attached), including elected student leaders. I know who the undergraduate IHP leaders are and will invite them. Can I please ask the Department Heads to send me the name and email of the president or equivalent of your department student councils?
I will have a meeting invitation and agenda today or tomorrow and will ask for your help to distribute them. Quorum is somewhere between 35 and 45 people, so we will have to do out best to get people to the meeting.
This is a bit quicker than I anticipated for the first faculty council meeting but it will be a good opportunity for everyone to start to experience our new identity as a decision-making body. Should be fun!

Once we have an Executive Assistant in place for the School, they will help manage governance, including finding regular times for Executive Council meetings. In the meantime, I'm on my own and we have our first item to consider with some urgency. I'd like to call a special council meeting to deal with this item before the September 17 meeting of the Max Rady College of Medicine Executive Council.
I will send a meeting agenda once we set a time. In short, we need to consider a proposal to change the sponsoring academic unit for the Master of Neuroscience program from the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics to the School of Biomedical Sciences.
