Boozhoo relatives, kin, friends, colleagues and helpers all of you!
We have organized the final event in our year-long social work intervention for helpers, "Indigenous Circles of Community Care". We will be holding a Talking Circle at Migizii Agamik, 114 Sidney Smith Street, on UM Fort Garry Campus.
We will gather at 4pm on Saturday, March 14 to introduce ourselves in a good way and to discuss our past year of accomplishments as helpers in the world and to reflect together on all the lessons we've learned from the initiative and each other.
We will maybe also be reflexively dreaming of future Indigenous Circles of Community Care, so if you have an idea, a thought, an inspiration about a future community care intervention for students and workers in the helping professions, this is an opportunity to find likeminded community leaders who are developing kinship ties as helpers, engage in Indigenous ways of being, knowing and doing, and to build collective empowerment.
I would be very grateful to you if you would share the attached poster with your helping community. This event is open to anyone who is a helper (students and workers in helping professions), so if you or anyone you know are craving community care and connection to other helpers, please consider this your sign.
Maarsi,
Sonja Stone, BSW (she/they)
