Upcoming Events: Care Microgrant Panel Discussion (UMIH + MAWA + QPOC Winnipeg) Wednesday, June 16th, 2021. 7 PM - 9 PM CT. Artists and art-lovers who identify as BIPOC are invited to an online gathering featuring guest panelists, Hassaan Ashraf & Bella Luna moderated by Ekene Maduka, to talk about the work in an upcoming in-person exhibition entitled Care at MAWA (June 16th to July 9th) and the issues it raises. The panel will explore both the possibilities and limits of regarding artmaking as a type of research, particularly within anti-colonial, anti-racist practices. Care - In-person Exhibition of works by Microgrant recipients (UMIH + MAWA + QPOC Winnipeg) Wednesday, June 16th, 2021 - July 9th, 2021 at MAWA (611 Main Street) Join us in celebrating the opening of Care an in-person exhibition of works through microgrants showing at MAWA (611 Main Street) from the 16th of June till the 9th of July 2021. The Gallery will be accessible Wednesdays & Fridays from 10 AM - 4 PM CT. Please note these times are subject to change pending Government restrictions. Event Recap: Giveaway: g u e s t 17 Issue Launch edited by UMIH Research Affiliate Dr. Melanie Dennis Unrau Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for the launch of g u e s t 17, edited by UMIH Research Affiliate Dr. Melanie Dennis Unrau on the theme of petropoetics. The poets featured in this issue are oil workers, relatives of oil workers, residents of the oil patch or the petrostate, activists, environmentalists, cultural workers, researchers, concerned citizens, and artists. Dr. Unrau has also been generous to give away 20 FREE copies of the g u e s t Issue to the first 20 people who email her requesting one. Email unraum3@myumanitoba.ca to enter this giveaway!
On-going Opportunities: UMIH External Grant Support:
The UMIH is seeking proposals for its External Grant Support program. This is an initiative to help researchers in the Faculty of Arts who are seeking external funding for conferences, workshops, colloquia, and other local research events.
This program was designed to provide opportunities for scholars to secure support, (both cash and in-kind), from the UMIH to leverage funds from other agencies.
