The Writing Towards a Just World Research Cluster Present - Crafting Comedy: Humour as a Tool of Decolonization hosted by writer, Frances Koncan November 8th 2022. Hybrid workshop - in-person at 307 Tier and online via Zoom Some say comedy is an innate gift that only a select few possess; others say it's a skill that anyone can learn. Writer, Frances, thinks it's a little bit of both! In this workshop, we'll explore the building blocks of humour, joke-writing, and comedy as well as our own individual lived experiences, perspectives, and ideas to exercise our comedic muscles and explore our authentic voice as writers. Through a combination of listening, watching and, most importantly, writing, we'll focus in on how humour can be used to challenge and re-imagine the rules, structures and practices that we have been taught – and hopefully have a few laughs along the way.
