Virtual RESP 1460 Debrief

Hello RT1 Students, Please note there has been a date, location and time change regarding your RESP 1460 Debrief. It will no longer be on Monday April 27th in person; it will now be virtually on Friday April 24th from 2:00-3:00pm Cory will send out the virtual meeting information shortly and I will let the sites know to excuse anyone who is on a placement during this time to attend. The mandatory Security Checks booked for Monday April 27th from 9:00-10:00 am in R060 will still occur and have NOT been cancelled. Hello RT1 Students, On Monday April 27th @ 9:00 am (R060) you will be applying in person with the RT Administrative Coordinator for your annual mandatory Adult Abuse and Child Abuse checks You are required to bring any 2 (two) of the following pieces of Government issued ID to be recorded on the application. Please bring in the physical form: -SIN -MHSC Number (6 digit) -Band and Status Number -Driver's License -Passport -Birth Certificate Number Important Reminders: Please bring a black or blue pen The application process will now be free of charge. You will not have access to the results of this check or be able to use it for employment purposes. It remains as property of the University of Manitoba. Any previous Adult Abuse or Child Abuse checks obtained for work or volunteer purposes will not be accepted as they do not align with the BRT processing. All results are to be submitted on or before the due date provided. Failure to submit these documents by the deadline will result in course registration being put on hold until results are received. Update: Student Opportunity to Participate in a Team-Based Collaborative Experiential Learning Pilot

We invite you to participate in a pilot of a novel team-based initiative titled: Team-Based Collaborative Experiential Learning (TBCEL): From Head to Toes The initiative offers a unique opportunity to engage in team-based learning with students from other health disciplines and patients, focusing on the integration of oral and overall health. Though oral health is integral to overall health, it is often underrepresented in non-oral health professional education. This pilot offers you the opportunity to explore the relationship in a collaborative manner with fellow health profession students in an experiential learning practice setting. We hope you join us and help interprofessional education planners gain insights into future opportunities promoting wholistic healthcare. The commitment involves participation in the following: · Team orientation session (via UM Zoom during a noon hour). This will take place in March/April. · One to two in-person team meetings with dental or dental hygiene students and their patients in the dental clinic of the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry (during a noon hour; about 70 minutes, includes a team debrief). These will take place between March-May. * Thus far, we have the following dates: March 30th, April 20-23rd-all at noon hour. We hope you can participate on one or two of these dates. · Team Focus Group (via UM Zoom during a noon hour; no more than 80 minutes). This will take place after the second patient meeting between March-June. A short presentation about the pilot took place on March 11 in Apotex 050. This email is a follow-up to that presentation. Please note that there is a good chance that one of the team-based meetings will take place at noon on March 23rd and or March 30th, 2026; however there will be other dates forthcoming. Hi Everyone, From March 12 to March 13, you’re invited to take part in an important decision that will help shape student opportunities in the Department of Respiratory Therapy. The 2026 Student Referendum asks you to vote on whether to participate in the Student Giving Program, a student-led and supported initiative that helps fund opportunities and experiences that enhance student life within our program. The Respiratory Therapy Student Giving Program supports two types of funds that benefit students in different ways: 1. Student Initiative Fund This fund supports immediate, student-led priorities that aren’t typically covered by regular operating budgets, including: · Conferences, workshops, guest speakers and professional development opportunities · travel related expenses for academic or clinical learning · student-led projects and initiatives · equipment or resources that enhance our student experience 1. Endowment Fund The Endowment Fund is a long-term investment in future students. Contributions are invested, and the earnings are used over time to support student bursaries and financial support Together, these funds balance short-term impact with long-term support for the Department of Respiratory Therapy. What’s being proposed for 2026 Students are being asked to vote on the following proposed terms: * Contribution: $150 collected automatically alongside tuition. * Fund designations: * 80% to the Student Initiative Fund * 20% to the Endowment Fund * Term length: 3 years Why your vote matters This referendum is about choice and impact. By voting, you’re helping decide whether students collectively invest in opportunities that support learning, professional growth, and community within Respiratory Therapy. Whatever the outcome, the decision will reflect the voices of students who take the time to participate.
