Dear Dental Students Classes of 2029 & 2027 (IDDP), School of Dental Hygiene Class of 2027, and School of Dental Hygiene Direct Entry Students: Opening Assembly (The White Coat Ceremony) will be held on: Thursday, September 4, 2025 6:00 p.m. Brodie Centre Atrium (727 McDermot Avenue) If you are unable to attend the ceremony, please advise me ASAP; if I don't hear from you, I will assume you will be in attendance. Please bring your short white lab coat with you to the ceremony; be sure to have it unbuttoned and prepared to have it donned on you. You will be called onto the stage by the Dean and a Faculty member will donning your white coat on you and you will then button it up on your own. School of Dental Hygiene DIRECT ENTRY STUDENTS: You will only need to stand when you name is announced; you will not be coming onto the stage. ***Please meet staff from Dentistry & School of Dental Hygiene near the ATM/Answers booth in Brodie Centre no later than 5:15 p.m. so you can be lined up accordingly and given further instruction.*** Your family and friends are welcome to attend the ceremony, please note that it will commence at 6:00 p.m. sharp. If there are people with limited mobility attending, please let me know ASAP and I will be sure there is reserved seating for them and those accompanying them. Please provide number of people in the party... We look forward to officially welcoming you to the profession on Thursday, September 4, 2025. REMINDER - Yearly OFFICIAL CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK (with vulnerable sector screening)

Hello Dentistry and Dental Hygiene returning students, Please be reminded that, by August, you will need to provide us with your yearly OFFICIAL CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK (with vulnerable sector screening): The Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry and the School of Dental Hygiene require that all students submit official Adult Criminal Record Checks (including vulnerable sector screening) on a yearly basis. These checks must be provided to the School/College prior to the start date of classes for each year of registration in the two programs. Please see the following information on the application processes: Criminal Record Checks (including vulnerable sector screening): Winnipeg Police Services: Once you have received notice that your criminal record check, with vulnerable sector is ready, please email the pdf document to our office at jean.lyon(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:jean.lyon@umanitoba.ca> or susan.petras(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:susan.petras@umanitoba.ca> Information on the new CRC process and the on-line application portal can be found at the following website: http://www.winnipeg.ca/police/pr/pic.stm Students who do not live in Winnipeg and will need to apply to their local police detachment for these checks and then email the document to our office at jean.lyon(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:jean.lyon@umanitoba.ca> or susan.petras(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:susan.petras@umanitoba.ca> Note that you WILL NOT be allowed to participate in any clinical activities without having applied for, and the College/School being in receipt of these documents.
