Aurora Modernization Project t's time! New Aurora Launches March 11th On March 11, 2024, students will begin using the New Aurora launch page to access a combination of new functionality and existing Aurora tools. Communication to students about this change is ongoing through several channels, including UM Today stories, social media, and direct email. AWARDS: UM Undergraduate Research Award: Are you an undergraduate student who wants to learn more about research and scholarship in Education? Do you want to get paid to gain experience in the world of academia? If so, you might want to consider applying for an Undergraduate Research Award<https://umanitoba.ca/research/opportunities-support/undergraduate-research-…>! The award is open to undergraduate students in all fields and ranges of research, scholarly works or creative activities. Students apply to be mentored over 16 weeks (May through August) by a professor of their choice. The hours are flexible and determined in collaboration with the Advisor. The monetary value of the award is $7,000 and the Faculty of Education has funding to support 5 URA students in 2024. How to apply: 1. Interview a professor that you hope to be supervised by, to learn about the research, scholarly work or creative activity they are undertaking, and how you may both possibly benefit from a research experience. The Camp Counsellor will be responsible for engaging large and small groups of children by delivering educational and interactive activities, games, and interpretive talks. "A Decolonizing Exploration of Anti-racist, Arts-based Responses to the Violence Described in the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Report across the Context of Higher Education." The purpose of this study is to explore how arts-based, anti-racist educational strategies can support undergraduate students to engage with and respond to the MMIWG Calls to Justice. Your involvement would include: * Participating in a three-hour arts-based workshop about the MMIWG report on February 17, 2024 - 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights * Spending one hour pre-viewing materials in advance of the workshop to help you prepare; and * Completing a socio-demographic form, short online survey, debriefing talking circle, and an interview with the researcher. We value your time, so as a token of thanks, you would be provided with a $100.00 honorarium. The opportunity to serve as a research participant in this study is on a first-come, first-served basis. Thank you for your joyful energy, sustained commitment, and many contributions to our partner schools-developing caring educational relationships, engaging students in meaningful learning opportunities, and supporting the work of all involved in our partnerships. Throughout your practicum, I hope you have been able to maintain a spirit of openness, curiosity, humility, and wonder leading you to new personal and professional questions and conversations. In a review of this picture book by The Marginalian's author Maria Popova, Popova (2023) writes: That one mind can reach out from its lonely cave of bone and touch another, express its joys and sorrows to another-this is the great miracle of being alive together. The object of human communication is not the exchange of information but the exchange of understanding. If we are lucky enough, if we are attentive enough, communication then becomes a system for the transfer of tenderness.
