REMINDER: Talk tomorrow! The 2022/23 MNN Seminar and Visiting Speaker Series will feature talks by Manitoba neuroscientists on the last Friday of each month. Seminars will be presented during the second hour of Clinical Neuroscience Rounds, from 9:00 to 10:00 am. All are encouraged to attend. Clinical Neuroscience Rounds will remain a remote offering, via Zoom for this year. These sessions will be supplemented with several visiting speakers. Biomedical neuroscience seminars by MNN scientists - 2022/2023

Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to announce that the MNN will continue to present biomedical neuroscience research presentations within the Clinical Neuroscience Rounds program. These talks will be held on the last Friday of every month, starting in October. The talks will be from 9-10 am. Currently, the plan is to present remotely, giving access to all spanning several campuses. Ultimately, the mode of delivery will be determined by the Rounds organizers. Whether remote, in-person or hybrid, we will provide more information as we receive it. This week's speaker is Dr. Ken Lukowiak from the University of Calgary who will be presenting on "The many forms of memory in Lymnaea". Dr. Lukowiak's research focuses on the causal neuronal mechanisms of learning, memory formation and forgetting. They are interested in how stress alters memory formation; especially ecologically relevant stressors such as predator detection and crowding. Slack is a free messaging app for business that connects people to the information they need. By bringing people together to work as one unified team, Slack transforms how organizations communicate. The invitation is open to all MNN members, including faculty, staff and students. While participation is entirely optional, we encourage all MNN members and their lab colleagues to join. We want this platform to help build bridges between Manitoban neuroscientists. Through slack, you can quickly ask your colleagues questions, such as if other labs have a temporary replacement for a reagent you ran out of or if others have protocols they might be willing to share. It also allows graduate students across campuses to connect more informally. Feel free to also share announcements with others, like when your lab has a new paper, common equipment is not working or if there is an exciting seminar coming up.
