Nominations are now officially open for all Nursing Students’ Association (NSA) council positions. The voting period will take place from April 7 to April 8 using the Simply Voting online platform. Please review the attached nomination form for details on available positions. You can also refer to the attached NSA Constitution for descriptions of each council role. If you are interested in running for the Student Senate Representative or the Sigma Theta Tau Xi Lambda Representative positions, please review the additional documents provided. Guided by phenomenology and Wenger's Social Theory of Learning, this study examines the lifeworld of nursing students to understand how professional identity develops within contemporary nursing education. Using van Manen's phenomenology of practice and conversational interviews with final-year students, the research illustrates the lived experience of learning the nursing profession. Becoming a nurse is conceptualized as unfolding through a dynamic interplay between personal transformation and the structural conditions of education. Central to this process is pedagogical care-the relational way educators encounter and influence learners. Pedagogical care shapes how students come to understand themselves, others, and the meaning of nursing. This presentation demonstrates how a philosophical lens can generate practical pedagogical insight. It invites nurse educators and academic leaders to consider how intentionally designed learning environments can support professional formation and strengthen nursing's capacity to meet complex healthcare challenges. Invitation to Participate in Research Study: Team-Based Collaborative Experiential Learning (TBCEL): From Head to Toes

Please see the message below regarding a voluntary opportunity for you to participate in a research project being led by Dr. Laura MacDonald, School of Dental Hygiene, University of Manitoba. The project has received ethical approval and College of Nursing leadership approval. You are under no obligation to participate. As a health profession student, we invite you to participate in a pilot of a novel initiative titled: Team-Based Collaborative Experiential Learning (TBCEL): From Head to Toes The initiative offers a unique opportunity to engage in team-based learning with students from other health disciplines and patients, focusing on the integration of oral and overall health. Though oral health is integral to overall health, it is often underrepresented in non-oral health professional education. This pilot offers you the opportunity to explore the relationship in a collaborative manner with fellow health profession students in an experiential learning practice setting. We hope you join us and help interprofessional education planners gain insights into future opportunities promoting wholistic healthcare. The commitment involves participation in the following: * Team orientation session (via UM Zoom during a noon hour). This will take place in March/April. * Two in-person team meetings with two of your patients (at different times) in the dental clinic of the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry (during a noon hour; about 70 minutes, includes a team debrief). These will take place between March-May. * Please note, the following dates are planned, but there will be others: March 30th, April 20-23rd. All at noon hour and on the Bannatyne Campus in the dental clinic. We hope you can participate in 1-2 of these. * Team Focus Group (via UM Zoom during a noon hour; no more than 80 minutes). This will take place after the second patient meeting between March-June. CPR Renewal/ Certification- Action Needed

Dear Students (BN and NP) and Midwifery Learners, This is a reminder to recertify your CPR at the Health Care Provider Level (HCP) during the months of April or May, regardless of the expiry date noted on your CPR card. Proof of your recertification must be emailed to nursing(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:nursing@umanitoba.ca> no later than June 1st, 2026. No exceptions. * Note - Students registered in clinical in Summer Term are encouraged to submit their CPR by May 1st (including Midwifery Learners) * If you are graduating after Winter Term (May 2026 Grads), you do not need to submit proof of CPR recertification. * The NSA often offers CPR courses in April and May. Please watch for more information from the NSA. Participating in these classes will help support the NSA as they receive a portion from our CPR Partner for each sign-up! Please include CPR and your full name and student number in the subject of your email. Submitting your documents on time means that you will be able to register during the initial registration period, provided you do not have other holds on your record. Students who do not submit the documents on time will be prevented from registering for courses until late August, which may result in you not obtaining space in some of your courses. This fund is designed to support student-led initiatives that benefit the nursing student body. Eligible projects include: * Capital projects * Furnishings and/or equipment purchases * Lectureships * Library resources * Graduation dinner * Research initiatives * Student awards * Student competitions, including costs associated with travel and presentations Proposals that fall outside of these categories may also be considered.
