The Plant Canada Conference 2011 will be held from July 17 to 21 at
Saint Mary's University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. The theme of the
conference is "Plant Adaptation to Environmental Change". On behalf of
the Steering Committee and Graduate Student Organizing Committee it

*Join your fellow grad students on ThursdayMarch 17th to celebrate St.
Patrick's Day!
There will be a St. Patrick's Day coffee break at 10:30am in the grad
lounge. Come enjoy a cup of "Irish coffee" and some shamrock cookies.
After school students are planning on going out for some food and drinks
(location to be determined) so be sure to meet us in the grad lounge at
4:30pm and join us :)
If any of you are wondering what St. Patrick's Day is all about you

people dress up in green and pretend they have some connection to
Ireland (ok some people actually do).

scholarships in graduate studies. The Lord Selkirk Scholarship will
provide support to a graduate student /"doing research in methods
farmers may use to add value to their products before leaving the farm
gate."/ The W. O. S. Meredith Fellowship /"is intended to extend
research in barley science by encouraging and providing support to a
student who is conducting graduate research in this field." / The
Syngenta Graduate Scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student who
/"is conducting research in sustainable agriculture in the following
areas: environmental quality and resources management, integrated pest
management, introduction of new technologies, economic viability and
rural community sustainability." / The James Gordon Fletcher Fellowship
will be awarded to a Masters student who entered their Program during
the 2010-2011 Academic Term.
Please bring these scholarships to the attention of students in your
department who would qualify on the basis of their research.
Qualifications are listed on the Advertisements.
To apply, students should submit the following:
a) *Lord Selkirk Scholarship:* One-page description of their research
and its applicability to current farm practices (also, state how the
project increases value to the farmers products). Include the student's
name and current year of study. A photocopy of their transcripts or
Aurora print-out.
b) *W. O. S. Meredith Fellowship:* Two-page summary of their
current/proposed research and how it relates to area of barley science.
Include the student's name and current year of study. A photocopy of
their transcripts or Aurora print-out.
c) *Syngenta Graduate Scholarship: *One-page description of their
research and its applicability to sustainable agriculture. Include the
student's name and current year of study. A photocopy of their
transcripts or Aurora print-out.
d) *James Gordon Fletcher Fellowship:* Project Outline and 2 letters of
reference. A photocopy of their transcripts or Aurora print-out.
