Hi Everyone, A reminder of our board meeting today from 4.30pm to 6.30 pm Pacific Time, which will be hosted in the Collaboration room, at Courtyard by Marriott Nanaimo. Outlook has been quite fussy about time zones (I know the zoom meeting is showing up as at least four different times!). If you are joining remotely, at 4.20, please try your link and let me know if there are issues. I may need to resend the link or create a new zoom meeting. See you soon! CALS incoming and outgoing board member meeting at CCLR, Friday, May 19, 7am to 8.30am Pacific Time

Hi Everyone, Welcome to the new CALS board members! My last task as outgoing president is to invite you all to the incoming and outgoing board member meeting at CCLR on Friday, May 19 from 7am to 8.30. I apologize that the meeting is so early, it was the only time that was available in the busy CCLR schedule. Please see attached for our agenda.* Note that minutes from the May 19th meeting will be circulated as soon as possible after the meeting, for approval on May 22. You have two tasks as a new board: 1. Decide if CALS attends Congress in 2027 at Simon Fraser University. At our outgoing board meeting on May 19, we will have a discussion and make a recommendation to the new board. We will then hold space for another discussion and then a motion at our May 22 meeting. We need to make this decision now because the deadline for informing the Federation is September. A link to Congress 2027 is provided in the agenda so you can make an informed decision. 2. Based on the recommendation from the membership at the GMM on Thursday, make a motion related to the relationship between CALS and CCLR. Please pay close attention to this discussion at the GMM. Finally, I have asked each outgoing subcommittee to summarize their activities over the last three years and make a recommendation for next steps. Zoom link to follow. Thanks everyone! Outgoing board meeting, Tuesday, May 19th from 4.30 to 6.30 Pacific Time

Hi Everyone, Please see the minutes from our March 2026 board meeting as well as the agenda for our upcoming board meeting attached. This board meeting will take place at CCLR on Tuesday, May 19th from 4.30pm to 6.30 pm Pacific Time. This meeting will be held in the Collaboration room at Courtyard by Marriott Nanaimo. You should also have received a zoom invitation in your calendar. At this meeting, I would like to have a discussion and then make a recommendation to the incoming board regarding CALS’ participation at Congress 2027, as the new board will need to make a final decision by September. Please click on the link I provide in the agenda to inform our discussion and recommendation. Consider how the format for future Congress events has shifted. While I have included time for each subcommittee to speak at our outgoing meeting on May 19, please let me know if this time is not needed. At the outgoing/incoming board meeting on Friday May 22, I expect each subcommittee to share the tasks they worked on the past three years and make recommendations for the new board around next steps. Each subcommittee will have a maximum of 5 to 6 minutes to share because this meeting is scheduled for 1.5 hours, so make sure you prepare a succinct presentation. Feedback on GMM agenda

Hi all, Please take a look at the GMM agenda. Each subcommittee has been given some time to speak to the activities they have engaged in over the last three years. At the GMM, we will have AV set up for the room as well as hybrid capabilities so that we can also zoom. If there is anything I have forgotten, please let me know. I will send this agenda out to the CALS listserv by Friday at noon. Also, please send any power point slides you have to me in advance by email, as soon as you are able to. Thank you! Update: CALS Board (2026-2029)

Caution! This message was sent from outside the University of Manitoba. Dear Members of the CALS Board (2023-2026), A quick update! There is certainly a great deal happening behind the scenes with Fenton and I to ensure the CALS Board slate was full! (Particularly in the Executive roles. We had more than 7 directors originally nominated - and were able to transition some to the Executive. The goal was to keep great people and be able to share the workload - rather than lose someone to an election!) As of right now, there would only be one election required for the student position at the University of Waterloo. Given this, we have decided to invite both students from U of Waterloo to join the Board for the upcoming term. (Thus, there will be 3 students.) We also continue the search for a President. We are very grateful that Dr. Heather Mair has graciously offered to come out of CALS retirement to serve as Co-President should anyone be interested in sharing the role with her. If you are interested, please let me know by Friday, May 15 at 12pm. I will send out communication announcing the new board May 16/17 to the CALS Listserv! Please note that there will be a changeover breakfast with the old and new boards for knowledge transfer at CCLR on Friday, May 22 from 7-8:30am. Please book it in if you are coming to CCLR! 😊 Thank you all for your willingness to serve CALS and for the time and energy you continue to dedicate to this important association. We see you.
