Anti-Ableism Workshop for the Arts Launch Join Arts AccessAbility Network Manitoba for the launch of our Anti-Ableism Workshop for the Arts on June 27, 2024 from 3-5pm at Winnipeg Art Gallery: Ilipvik Learning Steps 300 Memorial Blvd. At this event, AANM Board Chair Diane Driedger, AANM Executive Director Jenel Shaw, and former Senator and champion of the arts Patricia Bovey will discuss why anti-ableism education, advocacy, and action is crucial in the art world. You will hear how your organization can book AANM’s full Anti-Ableism Workshop, which covers the history of disability in Canada, the disability rights movement, disability and Deaf language and protocols, notable disability art organizations in Canada, famous artists with disabilities, and practical advice for creating accessible events. Let's Celebrate Pride Parade 2024!

The Faculty of Education will be meeting with the UM contingent at Memorial Park this Sunday. Look for the big banner! (see photo attached). Short-Term Job Opportunity: Lunch Supervision at Whyte Ridge

Sent on behalf of John Finch, Field Partner Liaison, Practicum & Partnerships Office: There is a current opportunity to obtain paid lunch hour work at Whyte Ridge school (1.25 hours a day) assisting with the school lunch program. The school is specifically interested in Faculty of Education students for this work. This is an excellent opportunity to see how schools function at a different level than practicum and meet some new teachers and administrators. You would not need to be available every day but even one day a week would help out the school immensely. Please note that by accepting a position, as one of the lunchroom supervisors, you will not be able to participate in a practicum at Whyte Ridge school. Please ensure that, if interested, participating would not in interfere with either your faculty-based coursework and attendance or practicum. Lunch supervision pays $17.13 and hour for 1.25 hours. Hours are 11:00 - 12:15 Monday to Friday. Payroll and tax forms will be sent to you to fill out as well as Child Abuse Registry Check, Winnipeg Police Record Check, Workplace Safety Orientation information, and Commit to Kids.
