MAHN Update- Potential Health Care Strike

Dear Students, You may be aware of a potential health care support worker strike on October 8 that may affect your current practicum placement. We understand that this situation may cause concern and uncertainty, and we want to assure you that we are closely monitoring the developments. We will follow up directly with any student that is impacted should a strike occur. In the event your preceptor is involved in a strike or job action, your placements will be on hold until job action is resolved. Decisions regarding placements will be determined based upon the nature of strike action and the impact on the employer. Students will still be required to complete the minimum 1250 hours of practicum training to graduate the MAHN program. Depending on the length of job action, students may have their program extended if they are at risk of not achieving the minimum required practicum hours or required competencies. At this time, please continue with your current schedules and reach out to your preceptors or MAHN.info(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:MAHN.info@umanitoba.ca> if you have any immediate concerns or questions. We will be holding out the FHNS GSA election on the 16th of September for the following positions: - President - Secretary - Events and Activities Coordinator (HNS) -Treasurer Attached you will find an introduction to your candidates for the contested positions and the confirmed positions. There will be no election for the positions which had only one candidate. You will also hear from the candidates via the FHNS WhatsApp group and other social media.
