Re: Proposal for CHum 2027
Dear all (Ori in CC as he hasn't yet accepted the mailing list invitation),

Joe suggested Lydia Chilton of Columbia, who has published on multimodal AI for creative work and on AI humour generation.
I had a look at her web page https://www.engineering.columbia.edu/faculty-staff/directory/lydia-chilton and Google Scholar profile https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=RpxD-7QAAAAJ and she seems like a good choice. I think she's only put out one paper on humour (on generating captions) but her other work on co-creation with generative AI seems relevant. If others agree, who would like to send her an invitation?

I agree! She seems like a great pick. Are we inviting her to give a keynote virtually or in person? Perhaps we can give her both options. Do we fund anything besides the workshop registration fees?
And let me accept the invitation now (had to collect a bed earlier)... Ori

I think it's up to the ACL Workshop Chairs to decide which conferences will be virtual-only and which will be hybrid, so we need to word the invitations accordingly. I imagine that among us we'll be able to scrounge up enough funds to register our invited speakers for virtual attendance, but covering in-person registration and travel/accommodation expenses is probably out of our reach unless we get sponsorship. (And we should probably apply for such sponsorship as soon as we get an acceptance notification, or even now!)
See my recent e-mail to Ryan North's agent for sample wording that reflects the circumstances summarized above.

Alright! I will assume nobody objects to having Lydia then and write her.
She had a paper right after mine at ICCC, though she was not there (her student, Sean Kim, presented).
