[image001.png] This message is sent on behalf of Dr. Hans-Joachim Wieden, Associate Vice-President (Partnerships, Knowledge Mobilization, and Innovation) For the past sixteen years the University of Manitoba has offered undergraduate students an opportunity to showcase their research experience through the Undergraduate Research Poster Competition. This year, to be more inclusive and to acknowledge the diversity and interdisciplinarity of the research and scholarly undergraduate work at the UM, we have rebranded the event as the Undergraduate Research Showcase<https://umanitoba.ca/research/opportunities-support/undergraduate-research-…>, offering 2 streams of competition and judging; Oral presentation and Poster presentation. * In the Oral presentation, students will have a maximum of 3 minutes to explain/describe their research project in any means/media format of their choosing. i.e Oral presentations, PowerPoint presentations, 3-D demonstrations, videos, etc. * In the Poster presentation, students will set up a poster displaying their research and will present their poster during an established window of time. The success of this event depends on volunteers, especially judges. I am writing to ask if you would be interested in providing a few hours of your time to assist us with judging this year’s competition. The details of this year’s competition are as follows: Date: Tuesday, October 31, 2023 Location: Multipurpose Room, UMSU University Centre (Manitoba Rooms 210 to 224) Time: The judging will take place between 10:00am and 3:00pm, but judges will be assigned a 2-hr window of time closer to the event. For both the Oral and Poster presentation formats, judges will be asked to evaluate approximately 4 to 6 students within their preferred format and category. Instructions and an assessment grid will be provided. Refreshments and networking will occur from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., with the award presentations starting at 4:00 p.m. Prizes of $500 and, $250 will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place in each of the five categories: Applied Sciences, Natural Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Creative Works. Dear all, The Rady Faculty of Health Sciences is calling for nominations for the inaugural Dean of the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences Post-Doctoral Fellowship. Please see the attached email regarding: the post-doctoral fellowship Available funds from the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences will be used to offer the Dean of the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences Post-Doctoral Fellowship. The purpose of this fellowship is to recognize the outstanding professional achievement, strong leadership skills, and notable personal service of post-doctoral fellows in the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, Max Rady College of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, and College of Rehabilitation Sciences. The availability of funds for this fellowship will be confirmed annually by the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. ELIGIBILITY In years when funds are available, the Dean of the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences Post-Doctoral Fellowship ($1000 value) will be offered to post-doctoral fellows who: (1) are appointed by the University of Manitoba; (2) completed a doctoral degree within the past five years and who are seeking further research training in a particular research area, under the supervision of a University of Manitoba faculty member whose primary appointment is within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences; (3) have demonstrated outstanding achievement or potential as a post-doctoral fellow through research activities; (4) have demonstrated strong skills in leadership, community engagement, social accountability, and/or volunteerism.
