Dear Friends of the UMIH, February 12th is the national Day of Action for Contract Academics. According to CAUT, about 1 out of every 2 undergraduate students is taught by contract academics and, on average, contract academics are paid 1/3 less per course than regular professors. (https://www.caut.ca/bulletin/2017/10/numbers-contract-academic-staff-canada) The UMIH was incredibly lucky to host a visit by Dr. Sarika Bose, chair of CAUT's Contract Academic Staff Committee, earlier this term to share with us her insightful research and action plans.
