Participants will build and create with a focus on non-traditional methods of physical and conceptual construction. Summer Institute II: Water Knowledge will be led by social practice artist KC Adams. This residency is about passing on water knowledge bundles to better understand our relationship with water. Dear Friends of the UMIH, February 12th is the national Day of Action for Contract Academics. According to CAUT, about 1 out of every 2 undergraduate students is taught by contract academics and, on average, contract academics are paid 1/3 less per course than regular professors. (https://www.caut.ca/bulletin/2017/10/numbers-contract-academic-staff-canada) The UMIH was incredibly lucky to host a visit by Dr. Sarika Bose, chair of CAUT's Contract Academic Staff Committee, earlier this term to share with us her insightful research and action plans.
