HAES is an approach to health affirming that health exists on a continuum
that varies with time and circumstance for each individual. This event aims
to brings awareness to the discriminatory behaviours that impede members of
marginalized communities from achieving health.
It will cover topics such as Health at Every Size (HAES), eating disorders,
intersectionality, gender, race, identity and lived experiences. Speakers
include dietetic health care professionals and members of marginalized
communities who are going to speak on their work and lived experiences on
topics such as their own struggles with healthcare, body image, race,
gender, intersectionality, and fat activism. It is open for all to attend.

Hey everyone!
The UMPhotoClub is organizing a photography retreat to a cabin called The
Maskwa Project, Alexander, MB. It is about an hour and a half drive from
campus.
The retreat is member only and costs $25 per person. It will be 2 days and
1 night, we leave on Thursday, February 20th at noon and come back by
Friday, February 21st evening.
The fee covers accommodations, food and transport. We would be taking 3-4
cars, if you can drive and are available, please come talk to us.
We have a cap of maximum 15 people, so register as early as you can, you
can opt out a week before the trip and if you register after the 12th,
there will be a wait-list. People who opt out after the 13th will not get
their money back as we would have booked the cabin by then.
Everyone going must be 18 or older.

Hey everyone!
We will be hosting a short workshop on an introduction to photography.
It will be covering the basics of operation a camera, getting a good
exposure and answering any questions from people who are new to photography.
It will be held in room 221 in E2 (Engineering) at 5PM on Friday January
24th, 2020.
We will also be going on a walkabout on Saturday, the 25th of January to
the Forks. We will meet at the Forks at 1 PM. If you have a ride and can
take some people with you from campus, it'll be much appreciated.
We will leave from the darkroom (Room 116, Uni Centre) at around 12:15-30,
you can join us there and we can leave together if you're on campus.

Ready to take action to save our planet? Great! Get your thinking caps on
because the University of Manitoba is participating in Invent for the
Planet on Feb. 14 to 16.
Invent for the Planet, a 48-hour, sustainability-focused international idea
and design competition, is open to all students (undergraduate and
graduate) from all faculties and post-secondary institutions across
Manitoba. In the competition, interdisciplinary student teams of four to
six are tasked with solving issues in areas such as waste management, food
security, environment, education, digital technology, agriculture, and
medicine/medical systems and delivery.
The winner of the UM competition will have the opportunity to present their
idea to Texas A&M University <https://youtu.be/rkWDCQMvY14> judges on
behalf of the University.
Prizes up for grabs for the top three teams of the local competition
include:
· First place: $1000 cash + North Forge Technology Exchange

Hello everyone
We'll be having the first walkabout this Saturday on the 9th of November
at 2 pm. We'll meet up at the darkroom and leave from there. We will be
going to the Assiniboine Park, walk around take some pictures and find a
place to eat at the nearby restaurants. We'll try to take pictures around
sunset as well to get that golden hour goodness. We'll see you at 2pm at
the darkroom on the 9th, Saturday!
If there's people driving and would be willing to carpool that would be
great.

Hello everyone,
We will be conducting an introductory film workshop for black and white
film basics and film development.
In you need help with understanding your film camera, or if you don’t have
a film camera but are interested in film, join us this Friday at 4 PM at
the Darkroom (Room 116 University Centre)
There will be a hands on session, information session and dev session.
These film workshops can be quite long, say about 2-3 hours. There will be
pizza for the attendees as well.
If you are attending, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make
arrangements for you as the space in the darkroom is limited.
