The Faculty of Graduate Studies offers scholarships valued at up to the international differential tuition fee amount, to graduate students who:
(1) are international students (i.e., those in Canada on study permits);
(2) are enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in:
(a) the second year of a Ph.D. program with a two-year fee structure (Plant Science/Soil Science);
(b) the first year of a Ph.D. program after completing a Master's degree at the University of Manitoba;
(3) are paying the international student differential tuition fee;
(6) are not recipients of external award funding that pays for their tuition.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are planning to transfer from a Master’s to a PhD program, or to apply to a PhD program for the Summer 2018, Fall 2018 or Winter 2019 term after April 1st, 2018, you are encouraged to apply and must apply by the April 11th deadline if you wish to be considered for the IGSS for the 2018 -2019 academic year. Even if you are unsure of what you will do, you are encouraged to submit an application.
International Students who are unsure if they are eligible to apply are encouraged to submit an application. An assessment of eligibility will be performed once your complete application is received.

Global Affairs Canada and the Chinese Ministry of Education are offering short-term scholarships to support Canadians (citizens and permanent residents) wishing to study abroad in China. Scholarships are awarded for studies, research, language studies or a combination of studies and language studies at participating Chinese institutions<http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua/universityen.aspx>.
Eligible expenses and value:
The award component provided by the Chinese Government Scholarship includes:
* tuition fees at participating Chinese institutions<http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua/universityen.aspx>;
* a monthly stipend<http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina/scholarshipdetailen.aspx?cid=97&id=2070> appropriate to the recipient’s status (Approximate values):
* 2,500 Yuan for undergraduate and language students;
* 3,000 Yuan for Master’s degree students; and
* 3,500 Yuan for PhD students and senior scholars.

I am pleased to let you know that the English Language Centre (ELC)<http://umanitoba.ca/student/elc/index.html> will continue offering Part-Time Academic English Courses<http://www.umanitoba.ca/student/elc/parttime/index.html> at a reduced tuition fee for Winter 2018.
In the past, these courses had cost students between $140 and $160 per course. This cost has been reduced to $30 per course.
We are excited to increase the accessibility to our 30-hour language courses to students whose first language is not English and may be struggling with their Academic English.
