Improving Soil Health Across the Value Chain
Wednesday June 23rd, 2021 @ 11:00 a.m EST
The agri-food industry depends on soil, and soil degradation is a growing concern for all of us. But beyond the doom-and-gloom of environmental predictions, there is a growing movement of farmers and researchers that are fueled by optimism and seeing on-the-ground success with soil regeneration. In this discussion, Mel will outline the perspective from Ontario, who is doing what and how each part of the value chain can be a part of the soil solutions.
Mel Luymes is a freelance agri-environmental sociologist and co-founder of the Ontario Soil Network. Her family runs a grain farm and custom farming business near Guelph, Ontario, using precision cover crops, no-till and strip-till on their own fields.

Dear Graduate Community Members,
I would like to share with all of you the following slides from Dr. Don Stewart, Executive Director of Student Support and Dr. David Ness, Director of the Student Counselling Centre on mental health supports that are available at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Stewart and Dr. Ness gave a presentation to the Graduate Student Experience Committee on these supports and the committee thought it was important to share these broadly.
