Ses domaines d'intérêt sont la racialisation, l'éducation antiraciste et la didactique des langues. * Cécile ROUSSEAU, MD | Professeure, Division de psychiatrie sociale et culturelle, Université McGill | Quand la bonne volonté fait du tort : Les défis de la mise en œuvre d'interventions antiracistes dans les écoles Cécile Rousseau, docteure en médecine, est pédopsychiatre et professeure de la division de psychiatrie sociale et culturelle de l'université McGill. Elle a beaucoup travaillé avec les communautés d'immigrants et de réfugiés, en développant des interventions spécifiques en milieu scolaire et en menant des recherches orientées vers les politiques. Actuellement, ses recherches se concentrent sur les programmes d'intervention et de prévention visant à lutter contre la radicalisation violente. * Myrna LASHLEY | Professeure adjointe, Département de psychiatrie, Université McGill | Les étudiants noirs et le racisme : Utiliser la famille et les amis comme moyen de survie Myrna Lashley est titulaire d'un doctorat en psychologie du conseil de l'Université McGill. Elle est professeure adjointe au département de psychiatrie de l'Université McGill ainsi que chercheuse et chef de projet à l'Institut Lady Davis de recherche médicale de l'Hôpital général juif. Her fields of interest are racialization, anti-racist education and language didactics. * Cécile ROUSSEAU, MD | Professor, Division of Social and Cultural Psychiatry, McGill University | When Good Will Harms: The Challenges of Implementing Anti-Racist Interventions in Schools Dr. Cécile Rousseau, MD is a child psychiatrist and professor of the Division of Social and Cultural Psychiatry at McGill University. She has worked extensively with immigrant and refugee communities, developing specific school-based interventions and leading policy oriented research. Presently her research focuses on intervention and prevention programs to address violent radicalization. * Myrna LASHLEY | Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, McGill University | Black Students and Racism – Using Family and Friends as Ways of Coping Dr. Myrna Lashley holds a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from McGill university. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry of McGill University as well as a researcher and project leader at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research of the Jewish General Hospital. She is an internationally recognized clinical, teaching and research authority in cultural psychology, and serves as an expert psychological consultant to numerous institutions.

The Centre for Human Rights & Legal Pluralism (CHRLP) at McGill University, Scholars at Risk (SAR) Canada, and our partners, invite you to a film screening of NASRIN, a documentary about one of the world's most courageous human rights activists and political prisoners, Iranian human rights defender Nasrin Sotoudeh. A panel discussion of international experts in Nasrin's case (Homa Hoodfar, Jeff Kaufman, Hon. Irwin Cotler, PC, OC, OQ) will follow the screening. In this panel discussion, Crown Counsel, Karen Shai, CEO of the Anti- Hate Network, Bernie Farber, and Director of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission, Marc-Alain Mallet, will address legal, communications, and community perspectives, respectively. Marc-AlainMallet is Director of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission, which is responsible for administering the Human Rights Act. Mr. Mallet is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience managing programs in both the provincial and federal public sectors. He was previously Director of Commercialization and Strategy at the National Research Council Canada - Institute for Information Technology, responsible for its national business development activities. Prior to NRC, he led initiatives in various GNB departments; his last role was as Director of eNB.ca. Mr. Mallet is passionate about creating healthy, inclusive and innovative organizations for the betterment of New Brunswick; assessing the effects of emerging technologies on human rights; and ensuring the Commission's efforts and its legislation remain relevant. Bernie M. Farber has more than three decades focused on antisemitism, human rights, pluralism and race relations. Recognized and called upon by the courts, media and law enforcement as an expert in human and civil rights, he is one of few in the field to be accepted by Canadian Courts as an expert in hate crime, antisemitism and white supremacy. Mr. Farber has indefatigably championed human rights and social justice issues as head of the Canadian Jewish Congress, the Paloma Foundation and the Mosaic Institute. Mr. Farber has also worked closely with Canadian Indigenous communities on historical redress. He is Chair of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, is an advisory board member of Human Rights Watch Canada, chairs the Rights and Ethics Committee for Community Living Toronto, and is a former co-Chair of the antisemitism division of the Ontario Anti-Racism Directorate. Karen Shai is a criminal prosecutor with the Ministry of the Attorney General in Ontario. Ms. Shai has worked as Crown counsel in the Crown Law Office - Criminal, Ontario's leading appellate office, since 1998. She served as counsel to the Assistant Deputy Attorney General (Criminal Law Division) from 2004 to 2008. She eventually became involved in hate crime work, leading a 2018 training session for designated hate crime prosecutors in Ontario. She regularly trains police officers in the investigation of hate crime. She currently serves as vice chair of Ontario's Hate Crime Working Group established in 2019 to address the rise of hate crime in Ontario. This group regularly provides advice to police and prosecutors throughout the province in the investigation and prosecution of hate propaganda and hate motivated offences. Call for Submissions - Canadian Yearbook for Human Rights The Canadian Yearbook for Human Rights (CYHR) invites submissions for its upcoming issue. The CYHR – published by the University of Ottawa's Human Rights Research and Education Centre – is the authoritative, bilingual (English and French) reference work on the intersection of human rights and Canada. Combining a yearly review of key developments in human rights in Canada, global human rights developments relevant to Canada, and Canada's contribution to international human rights discourse with high quality, refereed articles the CYHR stands as a reference tool for practitioners and academics alike. For its general section the CYHR welcomes articles written for a multi-disciplinary audience on a wide range of topics, including (but not limited to): Minority Rights, Children's Rights, Administration of Justice, Civil and Political Rights, Climate Change, Cultural Rights -- all with a direct link to Canada and its domestic and international policies.
