Le Laboratoire de recherche interdisciplinaire sur les droits de l'enfant (LRIDE) et la Faculté de droit, Section de droit civil sont heureux de vous inviter à cet événement hybride en anglais dans le cadre des Ateliers de la recherche de la Section de droit civil : Spiritualité, équité en matière de santé & justice structurelle : Quelques réflexions sur les droits de l'enfant<https://www.uottawa.ca/faculte-droit/droit-civil/lride/evenements/spiritual…> Au Canada, les ressources nécessaires pour jouir d'une bonne santé sont inégalement réparties. Dans les populations d'enfants, cela inclut des besoins tels que le revenu, le logement et la sécurité alimentaire, qui sont des indicateurs fondamentaux de l'équité en matière de santé. Pourtant, les enfants peuvent avoir leurs besoins matériels de base satisfaits et être encore loin de vivre une vie épanouie. Les ressources immatérielles, comme la spiritualité, sont également essentielles à l'épanouissement. Le terme « spiritualité » est souvent associé à un « bagage conceptuel », qui peut être l'une des raisons pour lesquelles la dimension spirituelle de la santé est largement ignorée par les programmes de santé traditionnels et n'est pas souvent prise en compte dans les discussions sur les droits de l'enfant. La spiritualité est pourtant un indicateur important de l'équité en matière de santé, et le 35e anniversaire de la Convention relative aux droits de l'enfant, qui reconnaît la spiritualité à quatre reprises, est un moment opportun pour examiner la relation entre la spiritualité, la justice structurelle et l'épanouissement. Rejoignez la conférencière invitée, Valerie Michaelson, professeure associée en sciences de la santé à l'Université Brock. Ses recherches collaboratives et porteuses de changement se concentrent sur l'équité en matière de santé, les droits de l'enfant et les droits spirituels. Outre l'étude de la manière dont les contextes sociaux, structurels et culturels façonnent la santé et le bien-être, la professeure Michaelson explore également les façons complexes dont la culture, la religion et la spiritualité façonnent les croyances, les attitudes et les comportements humains, y compris en relation avec la colonisation. In child populations, this includes needs such as income, housing and food security, which are fundamental indicators of health equity. Yet, children can have their basic tangible needs met and still be far from living fulfilling lives. Intangible resources-such as spirituality-are also essential to flourishing. The term spirituality often carries with it "conceptual baggage", which may be one of the reasons that the spiritual dimension of health is essentially ignored by mainstream health agendas and not often considered in a robust manner in children's rights discussions. This is short sighted. Spirituality is an important indicator of health equity, and the 35-year anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which recognizes spirituality four times, is an opportune time to consider the relationship between spirituality, structural justice, and flourishing. Join our guest speaker, Dr. Valerie Michaelson, Associate Professor in Health Sciences at Brock University. Her collaborative and change-generating research focuses on health equity, children's rights and spiritual rights. In addition to studying how social, structural and cultural contexts shape health and well-being, Dr. Michaelson also explores the complex ways that culture, religion and spirituality shape human beliefs, attitudes and behaviours, including in relation to colonization. The majority of her transdisciplinary and reciprocal research focuses on child and adolescent populations.
