Hi all,
As you may have heard, many of our clients in the hospitals and
through the WRHA are having problems accessing our new web pages in
CampusGuides. They are prompted for a Userid and password (not their
UM one) and when they provide it they go no where. I am asking you to
forward me contact information (name, phone number, email) of anyone
currently experiencing this problem so that I might pass them on to
the people working on this issue at eHealth. With your assistance
hopefully we can get this issue resolved today.
Thanks,
Carol

OCLC releases new membership research report: Seeking Synchronicity: Revelations and Recommendations for Virtual Reference
DUBLIN, Ohio, USA, 18 July 2011-A ground-breaking membership report from OCLC Research suggests that by transforming virtual reference (VR) service encounters into relationship-building opportunities, librarians can better leverage the positive feelings people have for libraries. This is critically important in a crowded online space where the biggest players often don't have the unique experience and specific strengths offered by librarians.
The report-Seeking Synchronicity: Revelations and Recommendations for Virtual Reference-demonstrates that today's students, scholars and citizens are not just looking to libraries for answers to specific questions-they want partners and guides in a lifelong information-seeking journey.

Hello,
The Health Sciences Libraries transitioned to a new homepage (http://libguides.lib.umanitoba.ca/health/) on Monday, July 11. We've since discovered that many HSC users are now unable to access the new site. They are prompted from the redirect/old page (http://www.umanitoba.ca/libraries/health/) to enter a username and password (see attached screenshot).
In short, we believe that this is due to restrictions placed on HSC computers by Manitoba eHealth (their IT provider/service). Most (but not all) users' workstations are locked down in such a way that they are prevented from visiting external sites, and it looks like our new site is being treated that way. I'm still waiting to hear back from eHealth about a possible resolution, but should you receive VR calls about this, the best course of action is to direct them to eHealth: 940-8500 for IT support and access issues, or to us (789-3464) for immediate assistance with library materials/services.

Hi everyone,
Due to ongoing problems with my libraryh3lp user account I'm not able
to log in to chat reference. I'm hoping to get it sorted out by the
libraryh3lp developers, but in the meantime I won't be able to cover
the Management shift this morning, and possibly not my own regular
shift on Wednesday from 1-2pm. I'll keep you posted.
thanks
Betty
