Hi everyone,
A faculty member contacted me who is having issues accessing articles from Nature journals such as Nature Plants. I emailed Electronic Resources and it is a known issue to them with all of the Nature publications right now. Electronic services forwarded me the following which is a quoted statement from Kristen Kruse sent to her staff on the issue:
"Hi - we've run out of downloads on our Nature Articles on Demand account, and don't have the go-ahead for more just yet. If we don't get that soon I'll ask the OA team to deactivate the titles, but for now if you're on troubleshooting and it comes up can you make a note of it and let them know we expect it to be a temporary situation."
So if you do have this come up; recommend to the patron that they request the article through Document Delivery for now. You should also report this issue to Electronic Resources.

Hello,
While on VR today (from 12-1), I got a question from someone, who then immediately signed off. Presumably they thought that 1) I was the person that they were talking to earlier and 2) That I knew who they are and how to get in touch with them.
I'm sending this out in hopes that whoever initially answered this request, can identify it, and get back to the patron. I think it is important in terms of customer service/library image to respond to this person, if possible. Here is the original message:

Hello,
We had an inappropriate chat incident recently that required us to permanently block the IP address of the offending party.
This is a good time to review the procedure.
1. It is difficult to know the exact nature of the query. Do not ignore queries; if you are unsure of the appropriateness, accept the query and remain professional at all times.
2. If at any point during a VR chat you are asked an inappropriate question (“Are you female?”, “Are you married?”, etc.), you should immediately use the following script:
"It is clear that you are not contacting the Libraries AskALibrarian service for research information. Your IP address will be blocked and information regarding this chat will be turned over to the Campus IT Security Coordinator and to the University of Manitoba Security Services.”
3. After sending this script, do not engage further. Block the patron’s IP address. (it’s the red button with a diagonal line through a circle - see attached image)
4. Report the incident to me.
