Hi, A decision was made last Thursday in the management group meeting to purge inactive patron records with a total balance below $20. If a patron (most likely he or she graduated in the past) would like to pay the fine but you cannot find the record in Alma, it means the patron record has been purged. students not receiving email notifications

Hi, We noticed that some patrons are unable to receive any email notifications. It's because no email addresses in their record have been marked as preferred. We have contacted IST to check the Iridium adaptor. At the same time, if you come across a patron record like this, please manually open the email address and check the yes option in the Preferred address section. LibChat "idle message" to patron while you are busy answering their questions

Hi, There seems to be a bit of confusion from our patron’s and VR staff with the idle message we originally suggested that reads: "I’ve stepped away from the desk…" You can enter your Idle Message under Nicknames and other settings. Scroll down to LibChat Settings to make the change. CIBC interac

Hi, As what you may have noticed, patrons with a debit card from CIBC won't be able to use Interac Online to make an online payment. The reason is that CIBC doesn't support the Interac Online service. http://interac.ca/en/interac-online-consumer.html has a list of participating banks and credit unions on their main page. Hello, SpringShare just sent us a solution to the issue of VR staff not displaying in Staff Online: 1. Click on the Logout link in the upper right of orange navigation bar. 2. Clear the browser's Cookies AND Cache 3. Sign back into LibAnswers Sometimes a browser's cookies and/or cache will hold onto incorrect or outdated information. Clearing the cookies and cache will force the browser to get the most up-to-date information, so it's a great first line of defense when troubleshooting problems that pop up. LibChat Issue Alert

Hello, We discovered that staff logged-in to LibChat may not have their names displayed in the Staff Online box in LibChat When you login to LibChat and do not see anyone listed under Staff Online initiate a Group Chat (icon in the top right corner of Staff Online box) to say hi and find out who else is online with you. This will help us with our shift change transitions. We are working with SpringShare to resolve this issue. Stay tuned for updates in the Administrative Announcements box on the LibAnswers dashboard. VR shifts

Hi, It seemed suddenly a lot of patrons call in today to report that they couldn’t renew their books. The reason is most likely that they have reached the maximum renewal period for the loans. From the system job that was run on August 13th, you can see 2765 loans were unable to be renewed. I randomly checked two patrons and found some of their loans were created in 2014. They have been renewing books that were borrowed in 2014. It definitely violates our circulation policy which only allows patrons to renew a loan for up to 3 times. The maximum renewal period was not correctly set up in Alma in the past. That’s why they could always renew items. The bug has been fixed. EZproxy login down

Hi, The EZproxy authentication for off-campus access is down. Users will get an alert saying "Invalid ID or password" (Capture2.jpg). We have asked OCLC to fix it ASAP. I will keep you updated. If a patron reports a login issue, please check the URL. If it starts with https://login.uml.idm.oclc.org , then it is the EZproxy login. Logging into the library account is not affected. The problems persist (I’ve just re-tested as of 10 minutes ago). Specifically, the “Sign in to NCBI” box located on the left-hand side does not appear to accept credentials when entered, and puts the user into a loop of cascading windows within that window. I believe that the problem may be linked to our proxy. As Carol notes, when accessing MyNCBI from the un-proxied version of PubMed, everything works as it should (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/). We have tested this on a WRHA computer, our “off-campus” computer, and on several UofM computers with different OS’s and browsers, all with the same result. We rely on MyNCBI fairly heavily, so I suspect that we may start hearing from our users fairly soon about this issue. Can you help?
