Hi Everyone
Libraries Systems is in the process of deleting outdated directories from the website that have been appearing in Google search results and the University’s search results. If a patron encounters one of these pages they will now see this error message.
[cid:9a519ad5-e542-4851-9b78-a1e559ec32bd]
If you receive a question about this on Ask Us you can inform the patron that the webpage they were looking for was out of date and has been deleted and offer them assistance with finding the information they were looking for.
If you have any questions let me know.

Hi Everyone
In 2020 all librarians and staff on Ask Us will be asked to begin using the new libchat/libanswers dashboard regularly. The new dashboard has some added features (such as screensharing) that will improve online communication with patrons and make Ask Us shifts a little easier for staff. I’ve scheduled three sessions in November to give you the opportunity to become familiar with the new dashboard before we make the change next year. You can register for one of the sessions below. All Ask Us staff are encouraged to attend one session.

Hi Everyone
Due to the reduced opening times for the Libraries next week, from Sept 3-6 Ask Us will only be staffed from 9am to 4pm. Any shifts that were previously scheduled after 4 pm next week have been deleted.
Have a nice long weekend.

Hi Everyone
On Monday Aug 19 we have a soft launch of the new FAQ system. You will notice that the Ask Us pop-up in Primo will look slightly different with a new link to the FAQ website. https://umanitoba.libanswers.com/ This will be a testing period. If you notice any issues with links or FAQs please let me know and we will have that resolved before September. Feel free to direct students to our FAQs as needed.

Hi Everyone,
This is just a reminder that all staff scheduled on Ask Us are required respond to any outstanding tickets in the LibAnswers queue during their shift. This is especially important during earlier scheduled shifts where there may be unanswered tickets from the previous day. Please remember to check for tickets during every shift. It is possible that new tickets have been generated or remain unanswered if earlier shifts were quite busy. When there are two staff members scheduled on Ask Us simultaneously both staff members are required to answer chats and tickets.
This fall there will be training on using screen sharing features. I’ll send out more information on that in September.
As always, let me know if you have further questions.
Best,
-Kyle

Thanks to everyone who replied. I appreciate that so many of you took the time to give us your feedback!
We will be completing the final edits next week and hope to have the FAQs available in late July. At that point you will receive more information on how the FAQs will be integrated with Ask Us.
In the meantime, if you have any questions just send me an email.

Subject: Help Us Review the new FAQ system
Hi Everyone
We are getting close to launching our new FAQs but before we complete final edits and go live we would like to invite you to test the system and give some feedback.
You can view the FAQ website at https://umanitoba.libanswers.com<https://umanitoba.libanswers.com/>. When we go live the FAQs will be linked from the Ask Us slide-out in Primo to encourage users to consult the FAQs before they initiate a chat. Please keep in mind that the FAQs do not replace the content currently found in the Help Hub. Instead they are designed to help users navigate to Help Hub information more easily and reduce the number of basic questions asked through virtual reference.
If you would like to offer feedback you may do so by replying to this email by June 21. Please pay particular attention to any:
* Broken links
* Incorrect information
* Errors in spelling or grammar
* Website glitches (both mobile and desktop views)
The questions included in the FAQs were chosen based on the most commonly asked questions documented in chat transcripts over an 18 month period. At this time, we will not be adding any additional FAQs. We will however, periodically review this resource as library services and user needs will inevitably change.
Please also note that we are not reviewing the content of Help Hub pages as part of this process so please limit your review to FAQ pages only.
Thanks for your help with this.
