The Centre for Human Rights Research extends our condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and students of Professor Karen Busby, who passed away on July 23, 2026.
Karen was a fierce human rights advocate and scholar, a professor of law, and a lover of the arts. In 2012, alongside Helen Fallding, Karen co-founded the Centre for Human Rights Research at the University of Manitoba. The work of the CHRR continues to be inspired by Karen’s thoughtfulness, courage, and care, and her unwavering commitment to justice. We hold all of those who loved Karen in our thoughts.
