Hello Plant Science Graduate Students,
Several grad students in the Plant Science Department are planning to
volunteer with the sandbagging efforts north of the City of Winnipeg
this upcoming Friday. We will be leaving early Friday morning at
approximately 8 a.m. If you are interested in joining us please email

see me up in the Stasolla lab. We'll try to find a ride for anyone who
is interested in coming along.

Scholarships are available from The Keith Gilmore Foundation. The Keith
Gilmore Foundation was established in 1987 and has headquarters at the
Canadian Hereford Association in Calgary, Alberta. It was established
to provide scholarships to worthy applicants taking secondary education
in the fields of agriculture, agricultural journalism and veterinary
medicine. The Foundation was named in honour of the late Keith Gilmore,
editor and publisher of The Canadian Hereford Digest for 30 years, in
recognition of his contribution to the Hereford breed, agricultural
journalism and the beef cattle industry.
The Keith Gilmore Foundation is a non-profit organization governed by a
Board of Trustees. All successful applicants for scholarships awarded
by the Foundation are chosen by this Board of Trustees.
The following scholarships are available and awarded September 1 of each
year:
a) Two $2,500 scholarships are offered to individuals in a post
graduate degree program in agriculture, agricultural journalism and
veterinary medicine at a recognized university, leading to a career in
the field of agriculture.
b) Four $2,000 scholarships are offered to individuals in an
undergraduate degree program in agriculture, agricultural journalism and
veterinary medicine at a recognized university, leading to a career in
the field of agriculture. The successful applicants will have already
completed a minimum of one year of college or university in their major
field of studies.
c) Four $1,500 scholarships are offered to individuals enrolled in a
recognized diploma program in agriculture and agricultural journalism,
leading to a career in the field of agriculture. The successful
applicants will have already completed a minimum of one year in a
diploma program.
The deadline for application is July 1 of each year. Applications are
to be mailed to The Keith Gilmore Foundation, 5160 Skyline Way NE,
