She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of British Columbia and a BA and MA in Political Science from the University of Alberta. Grace's research examines how organized interests in the agri-food sector interact with the shared jurisdiction that Canada’s federal and provincial governments enjoy over agriculture to shape policy-making for the agri-food sector. Canada, although it has immense natural resources, including 7% of the world’s freshwater reserves, is one of the countries most affected by climate change. The project explores how Canada’s agri-food system, including the public and private sectors and civil society can turn the challenges of water, such as scarcity, trade of water, and water’s role in food processing, into an opportunity. Ce soutien de la Fondation RBC financera en partie, au cours des deux prochaines années, l'initiative de durabilité environnementale de l'Institut canadien des politiques agro-alimentaires (ICPA) intitulée À l'avant-garde des solutions durables, qui vise à équilibrer les objectifs climatiques du Canada tout en augmentant la production agricole et en maintenant l'intégrité écologique de nos ressources naturelles. Ce financement permettra de soutenir de nombreux projets dans le cadre de l'initiative À l'avant-garde des solutions durables, notamment les programmes de bourses de doctorat et de chercheurs émérites de l'ICPA, ainsi qu'un projet portant sur l'agriculture et la résilience de l'utilisation des terres tout en équilibrant les objectifs environnementaux et la sécurité alimentaire. Ce don de Techno nature RBC finance entièrement le programme de bourses de doctorat 2022-2024, qui soutient un petit réseau de recherche transdisciplinaire composé d'étudiants au doctorat. L'objectif de recherche de cette cohorte sera « l'intersection du commerce, de l'environnement et de la sécurité alimentaire » et portera sur cinq documents de recherche, des webinaires, des ateliers, un conseil consultatif, et le développement professionnel au cours des deux prochaines années.
